Water Activity
The measurement of water activity or equilibrium relative humidity (ERH) is a key parameter in the quality control of moisture sensitive products or materials.
If there is too much water in a product, there is a risk of microbial growth and water migration. This can lead to clumping, changes in consistency and reduced shelf-life. Manufacturers of foods and pharmaceutical products must, for example, show to the FDA that the water activity of a product has declined to such an extent that bacteria can no longer grow.

Dew Point
The Rotronic low dew point probes are ideal for measurement of trace moisture; for example, in compressed air systems or in refrigeration or desiccant dryers. Dew point measuring instruments are used in the pharmaceutical and raw material industries, in building services engineering (HVAC), for clean rooms as well as in production and process technologies, and in injection molding; in other words, wherever measurement and monitoring of dew point or trace moisture plays an important role.

With the more extensive, cloud-based Rotronic Monitoring System (RMS), you benefit from maximum flexibility and outstanding data availability for system solutions and evaluations. The RMS software meets all requirements for server-based monitoring. It is linked to a database that stores all measured data and system activities. It is thus possible to access the data on all popular platforms from anywhere in the world as long as you have an Internet connection. This means the measured data being monitored are always available for evaluation in the central database.

High quality standards in R&D, production and storage necessitate a comprehensive monitoring system. The adaptive RMS Rotronic Monitoring System documents and visualizes all necessary measured data in one system. It consists of analog and digital hardware elements and a server software.
The data can be accessed at any time from anywhere by PC, tablet or smart phone. The system monitors parameters such as relative humidity, temperature, dew point, door contacts, particles and many more. In addition to this, it provides maximum flexibility, and is versatile and easy to use.

The long term recording of humidity and temperature conditions is very important in the pharmaceutical industry, production processes, storage, test facilities and many other areas. Once logged, the temperature and humidity data can be evaluated statistically. This provides valuable information on conditions that can have an influence on people and product quality. ROTRONIC data loggers fulfill the FDA requirements of 21 CFR Part 11 and GAMP 5. They are extremely accurate and easy to use. The data can be accessed wirelessly, via a network, or directly with the HW4 software. The data can be saved in tamper-proof LOG mode or in Excel files. For added security, the measured data from the data logger is monitored and stored redundantly online on a server or PC. A large range of interchangeable probes enables high flexibility in use and simple maintenance of the system. The long term data logging of humidity and temperature conditions is very important in pharmaceutical production processes, storage, test facilities and many other areas. Calibration
Although ROTRONIC probes boast excellent long-term stability, we still recommend that their calibration be checked regularly. One calibration per year normally suffi ces. Some of our customers, however, calibrate their probes more often; the range of calibration intervals extends from once a year to calibration before every measurement − depending on internal quality assurance rules.
The long-term stability of ROTRONIC probes is better than 1 %rh per year under normal conditions.
