Nomex Gloves & Gauntlets
Scilabub's range of Nomex gloves & gauntlets are designed to offer highly effective protection against high temperatures yet still provide comfort, dexterity and outstanding durability. The material used in the construction of our gloves is Nomex®, an aromatic polyamide whose outstanding features led to its use in astronauts suits. In fact Scilabub's gloves are very similar to those in regular use by Grand Prix drivers. They are autoclavable and unaffected by washing.
Offering Category III protection, this glove can withstand heat contact of 250°C for 13 seconds without any harm to the user and for 40 seconds at 100°C − enough handling time for most practices.
Our Nomex range are available as gloves and gauntlets in small, medium, large and extra large sizes.
Manufactured to European standard EN407, EN388 and EN ISO 21420:2020 and UKCA/CE certified.

Made from the same material as our gloves this apron offers the same high performing protection from the risk of burns and at a very cost effective price.

Frosters Gloves
Scilabubs 'frosters' range of gloves have been specially developed for the handling of very cold objects. Typically they are used for handling objects stored in the vapour stage of liquid nitrogen (ranging from -120°C to -190°C).
At actual liquid nitrogen temperature there is some stiffening of the material, but it still remains flexible enough for use.
These gloves are also very useful for other situations where low temperatures are an issue such as with LNG, in storage freezers, cold rooms, the handling of 'dry ice' and microtomes. They have recently been used as PPE in the development of the AstraZeneca vaccine and for the handling of the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine in the fight against Covid - see our 'In Action' page for more information.
The 'frosters' range is available in four styles;
Wrist (30cm), Mid-arm (37cm), Elbow (50cm) and Extended Shoulder, 60cm) length and in small, medium, large and extra large sizes.

Frosters Waterproof Gloves
Frosters Waterproof Gloves have been specially developed for protection against spills and splashes of ultra-cold / cryogenic materials including Liquid Nitrogen & LNG.
Superb insulation needs less thickness giving more dexterity. The gloves have a synthetic fibre outer for flexibility and a state of the art membrane offers additional protection.
They have recently been used as PPE in the development of the AstraZeneca vaccine and for the handling of the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine in the fight against Covid - see our 'In Action' page for more information.

Frosters Aprons
Frosters cryogenic aprons offer the same technology and protection as that of the Frosters cryogenic gloves. The apron provides optimum protection for torso and upper legs against the effects of spills and splashes of cryogenic material including LNG & Liquid Nitrogen. The outer layer of waterproof woven polyamide protects, even at the extremely low temperature encountered with liquid nitrogen, and yet is breathable.
Thermal insulation is given by a polyolefin/polyester micro-fibre middle layer. The inner layer is of cotton for comfort. Frosters aprons are fitted with quick release clips at both neck and waist and our adjustable straps give a comfortable fit.

Scilabubs 'frosters' cryo suits have been specially developed to provide protection and comfort against the spills and splashes of cryogenic materials including Liquid Nitrogen & LNG. Our suits are widely used in the oil and gas industry for distribution of ultra-cold / cryogenic materials.
The special outer layer is waterproof (resistant to condensation) yet remains breathable so as not to become clammy, while the high efficiency insulation reduces excessive bulk and therefore provides greater mobility.
Frosters cryo suits are in two parts, a 'bib and brace' overall and an over jacket. The overalls have long adjustable shoulder straps with Velcro fastening and the waist is elasticated. The jacket has a front central Velcro fastening strip with additional Velcro fastenings on the cuffs and features a useful inside pocket.
The collared version (pictured) is supplied as standard, however we also offer a hooded option for a small additional cost. Please note the hood is sewn on at the point of manufacture and cannot be added or removed at a later date.
