Powder Coating
For metal finishing, our powder coating service allows us to coat anything that is up to four metres long in any colour and texture of the customer’s choosing. The process involves three clear steps that are all conducted by hand to ensure quality and attention to detail.
The first part of the process is preparation; this is where we painstakingly ensure that the item being coated is spotless − all oil, dirt, lubrication, or oxides have to be removed to guarantee a clean, smooth finish. The reason we do this by hand is because we believe a thorough, manual cleaning is the best way to ensure that the item to be coated in powder is ready.
The second stage is the powder application process. The powder is applied electrostatically through a spray gun. The charged powder is sprayed towards the component with compressed air and then accelerated towards the product by the electrostatic charge. The processes we use ensure complete coverage and produce a high-quality finish.
The final stage is curing, the components are now baked in our ovens which allows the powder to flow and form a skin, we maintain the coated item at a consistent temperature to ensure the properties of the paint type used are maintained and set correctly. When cooled, the powder forms a durable finish that is tougher than conventional paint.

Sheet Metal Folding
Our machines all work on the same principle whereby a work piece is placed in between a punch (top tool) and a ‘V’- shaped die on a raised bed (bottom tool). The punch is hydraulically forced down pressing the work piece into the die and thus producing a fold. The dimensions of the punch and die will determine the angle and geometry of the resultant fold.
All parts are dimensionally checked for conformance to the customers design and drawing at first off stage prior to main production runs.
We have a wide range of tooling enabling us to form numerous different geometrics, accompanied by pressure-mark-free processing without refinishing.
We also have the ability and technology to produce some of our own bespoke forming tools for the forming operation and these would be designed on our customer’s requirements for their products.

Sheet Metal Punching
Punching in terms of producing holes or cutting out pieces of sheet metal is done by a process known as shearing.
The positioning, movement and processing of the sheet is synchronised by a CNC program written using special software by an engineer.
Aside from punching openings, our machines can also be used for creating contours by a process called ‘nibbling’ or can be used to create special shapes by a process called ‘forming’.
The punching station uses an electro-hydraulic punching head for consistently high punching power and has a rotatable single tool adapter for lowering the number of tools needed and decreasing the machine and tooling set up times. With the appropriate tooling the punching head also allows for a wide range of forms to be produced such as extrusions, louvers, beads, flanges and hinges.
The machine is support by an integrated and compact sheet handling system for automated loading and unloading of sheets 2500 x 1250mm.
We operate a two function multi too system which consist of several single tools combined in one holder. This considerably increases the number of tools available and improves efficiency thus reducing cost.
Our punch has a tapping function which allows us to form threads in mild steel, stainless steel and aluminium without producing chippings.

Sheet Metal Welding
The welding of sheet metal, especially aluminium and stainless steel welding, requires a high degree of skill and dexterity to produce clean, neat and visually appealing welds consistently and to drawing specification. When the job demands greater control, reliability and flexibility you need to employ the correct welding technology and skilled valued staff to ensure you achieve the desired results, first time and every time.
This is why we only use high performance welding sets made by Miller or Murex/ESAB. We have a range of welding technologies and welding sets to suit a wide variety of production requirements as different projects and designs require different technologies and methodologies.
To support having skilled welders with varied and diverse experience and using the best welding sets, it is vital that you use top quality consumables and accessories from reliable and accredited sources, therefore reducing and managing the risk of compromising the quality of your work which is why we use quality equipment and materials.

Sheet Metal & Metalwork Assembly
We can offer to manage the product including any sub contract work outside of our scope to provide you with the product as you expect and required to your standards.
Assembly techniques are supported with aid of a number of various automatic and semi automatic machines for the installation of fixings, pop rivet, vibration proof fastenings and press forming of joints etc.
All our factory operatives have been fully trained on every item of assembly plant. This enables our staff to take ownership and pride in the products and ensures the maintenance of a skilled and competent workforce giving greater flexibility to our resource planning and improved on time delivery performance.
Stevens Rowsell also offer on stainless steel products, glass bead finishing carried out in bespoke area and therefore eliminating contamination of the media for finishing of stainless steel products and welded assemblies.

Bead (Sand) Blasting
The blasting process smooths and cleans the surface of rust, weld marks, oils and dirt etc, to leave a uniform surface ready for painting if required. The process is carried out in self-contained units with fully trained operators. We only use non hazardous abrasives in our blast rooms.
Quality Assurance
At Stevens Rowsell we offer a contamination free blasting service. We have independent self-contained units set up specifically for Ferrous and Non Ferrous products. Keeping the Non Ferrous components separate allows us to guarantee no cross contamination in the media or the final product.
