By the end of the course the operator should be able to:
Recognise the need for the requirements of safesystems of work in relation to lifting operations.
Instruct operatives on their obligations with respectto statutory requirements relating to liftingoperations, Health & Safety at Work Act, PUWER,LOLER.
Instruct operatives on the safe use of liftingequipment in accordance with the code of practicefor the Safe Use of Lifting Equipment as publishedby the Lifting Equipment Engineers Association(LEEA)
Develop effective training programmes andschedules in lifting operations applicable to theirown working environment.
Measure levels of instruction, by continuousperformance review and assessments.

Management of Safe Lifting Operations

Demonstrate knowledge of the legal requirements,employer/employee obligations and responsibilities,and safe working practices pertaining to theoperation of mechanical lifting
Outline the principles for the selection of liftingequipment

Overhead Crane Training Course

By the end of the course the operator should be able to:
Operate the crane safely and correctly in accordance with manufacturers’ manual and instructions and accepted good practice
Operate the crane safely in response to given tasks and signals
Carry out daily maintenance
Demonstrate an understanding of crane terminology
Demonstrate an understanding of the signs given by a signaler
Demonstrate an understanding of responsibilities under relevant legislation
Recognise defects and hazards that affect crane motions
Demonstrate an understating of lift plans
Position the crane for a lift.
