Public Address Systems
Vaughan Sound has completed thousands of public address installations, tailoring systems to meet the specific operating requirements and needs of the venue.
For the education sector, public address (PA) schemes can be incorporated throughout a whole school or college site, offering maximum coverage from classrooms and corridors to halls, gyms and external areas.
Voice Alarm Systems
Voice alarm systems need to operate continuously and reliably − they can ultimately save lives in the event of an emergency.
Working in conjunction with the fire alarm installer, we proficiently design and install voice alarm systems that meet the following:
BS 5839-8 (the industry code of practice for the design, installation and maintenance of voice alarm systems)
BS EN 50849 (sound systems for emergency purposes)
BS 7827 (the code of practice for designing, specifying, maintaining and operating sound systems for sports grounds, large public buildings, and venues)
EN 54-16, EN 54-24
Special considerations need to be made when designing voice alarm systems; including acoustics, the role of various audio technology, and the need to broadcast emergency messages that are clear, coherent and easily understood.
Induction Loop & Hearing Assist Systems
As induction loop specialists, Vaughan Sound regularly designs and installs discreet systems to aid the hearing impaired, advising on whether a conventional single loop system or a more complex low spill multiple loop design is required.
Vaughan Sound is a highly experienced provider of such systems to commercial, education, industrial, heritage and community, local authority, public sector, stadia and worship spaces − key areas in which the hard of hearing require the ability to listen to clear, coherent audio, speech and broadcast messaging.
Disabled Refuge Systems
Building regulations state that all new multi-floored public buildings must include refuge areas for users and visitors who are unable to use stairs, fire escapes and evacuation lifts in the event of an emergency. Disabled refuge systems ensure a controlled and safe evacuation − and can ultimately save lives.
BS 9999: The code of practice for fire safety in the design, management and use of buildings requires that refuge areas are provided with independent communication between occupants and building management. Furthermore, the two-way system must be readily operated by and comprehensible to disabled people.
BS 5839-9: The code of practice for the design, installation, commissioning and maintenance of emergency voice communication systems.
Performance Sound & Stage Lighting Systems
We are currently the Swansea estate service provider for supporting School & Theatre Stage Lighting Systems and have an extensive portfolio of work within the education sector.
Illuminating performances and productions, stage lighting is an effective and professional addition to dance and drama studios, main halls and theatres.
From a portable freestanding system for the utmost flexibility to a fixed fully installed scheme for theatrical events, stage lighting can create a range of effects including spotlights, follow lights and colour changing capabilities.
Multimedia Projection Systems
Our projection systems offer powerful presentation tools; which usually consist of a DLP, LCD, LCOS or hybrid projector, a manual/electric screen or interactive whiteboard, and connectivity points for peripheral devices − making them ideal for a range of curricular and extracurricular activities.
Whether it is the incorporation of a single system into a classroom to encourage interactive presentations and multimedia-based learning, or the installation of multiple projection screens and projectors for a main hall performance, our audio-visual systems can be easily adapted to meet specific operating and curricular needs.
Emergency Lockdown Systems
Vaughan Sound’s emergency lockdown systems are the latest addition to our life safety portfolio, providing educational establishments with the ability to swiftly restrict access and egress to prevent danger to occupants.
Sadly, imminent threats and unsolicited attacks are a possibility at any school building, grounds or campus − whether it be an abusive person, someone carrying a sharp object or weapon, or an act of terrorism.
Vaughan Sound works closely with school staff, including building and facilities managers and IT/network engineers, to integrate lockdown solutions alongside existing fire alarm, lift, door, intercom, public address, CCTV and even digital signage equipment.
IP networked systems can be integrated to operate side by side with the infrastructure in situ.
Interactive Touchscreens
Efficient teaching equipment is essential to the quality of every student’s education.
Old, dated classroom technology will negatively impact teaching time, the productivity of staff and pupils, and ultimately the retention of information.
It will come as no surprise that school staff regularly tell us that they are aware of the correlation between pupils being unable to properly see content on poor flat-panel displays (blackboards, whiteboards and TVs) and those same students achieving lower exam/test results than others.
Through the use of interactive touchscreens and the latest audio-visual technology, Vaughan Sound provides exciting and engaging additions to any teaching space.
Soundfield Systems
Essentially a mini-PA system, the innovative amplification equipment provides teachers with even voice coverage throughout the classroom.
This effective distribution of sound enables learners at the front and back of the room to clearly hear what is being said by the facilitator, whilst also diminishing the need for the teacher to raise their voice and risk vocal strain.
Enhancing audibility, the soundfield system, which is recommended by the Department for Education and Skills (DfES), has been proven to increase students’ attentiveness, participation, comprehension and concentration.
Fire Alarm Systems
This UKAS accredited, third party certificated scheme covers the design, installation, commissioning and maintenance of fire detection and fire alarm systems.
Protecting life and property, clients can be confident in our professional practice, with all fire alarm installation work also carried out to BS 5839-1 and systems commissioned and certified accordingly.
This British Standard covers fire detection and fire alarm systems for buildings and is the industry code of practice for the design, installation, commissioning and maintenance of systems in non-domestic premises.
System components are also EN 54 certified where necessary.
Sound Masking & Speech Privacy Systems
In such spaces, sound masking is essential to an effective and productive working environment.
Our designs and solutions for open plan offices comply fully with ISO 3382-3.
The basic principle involves the introduction of a background unobtrusive sound via ceiling mounted emitters, strategically positioned at regular intervals within the workspace.
Delegate & Conference Systems
From small scale community gatherings through to critical council chamber meetings and large conventions, our communication and discussion solutions are tailored to cater for meetings of all sizes − regardless of the number of participants.
Covering a multitude of real-world scenarios, Vaughan Sound’s conference systems successfully share audio, video and meeting content to multiple delegates through flexible, intuitive systems.
Sound Systems for Leisure & Entertainment Venues
Incorporating the latest digital sound processing technology, our high-power professional audio systems offer outstanding sound clarity and coverage.
Working closely with clients from initial concept through to project completion, our sound systems deliver total output control and are ideal for leisure and entertainment venues and large showpiece installations.
Professional Sound for Stadia & Venues
Subsequently, audio-visual and professional sound systems for stadia and sports venues have become increasing sophisticated to cater for this captive audience, with state-of-the-art stadia and sports venue solutions designed to provide an engaging and immersive experience for supporters.
Stadiums nowadays don’t simply need to ensure visitors can hear public address announcements and occasional audio playback; instead they are geared towards largescale multimedia entertainment shows such as concerts, athletics, speedway, monster truck rallies and more, as stadium operators rely on alternative events to generate revenue.
Unified IP infrastructure is also becoming more prevalent, allowing combined audio and video transmission across multiple networks.
Digital Information Display Systems
Replacing conventional printed signage with dynamic audio-visual solutions which allow multiple users to update content as and when required, we deliver digital screen technology to a broad spectrum of customers in commercial and industrial, education, heritage and community, leisure, local authority/public sector, and stadia.
Digital information displays are the perfect tool for building a brand visually, utilising vibrant, energy-efficient screen technology.
CCTV Systems
We work with end users to ascertain their exact CCTV requirements, devising video surveillance solutions that ensure their buildings remain safe and suitably protected.
As traditional analogue closed-circuit television systems are being phased out to be replaced with future-proof IP-based digital systems, Vaughan Sound can assist you in the integration of the latest camera technology, utilising wired or wireless networks to transmit live imagery.
Modern IP CCTV systems allow remote monitoring from PCs as well as mobile and tablet devices, allowing connected users the ability to review live CCTV content wherever they may be.
