Fast Fourier Transform (FFT)

The Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) Converts Dynamic Signals from the Time Domain to the Frequency Domain, Enabling Engineers and Technicians to Analyze and Understand Signal Frequency Content.

Used extensively in industries such as aerospace, automotive, defense, power and process, and manufacturing, the FFT serves as a primary tool for applications where vibration and other dynamic measurements are made including acceptance testing, vibration surveys, model validation, and troubleshooting and diagnostics.
Recording & Playback Analysis

Recording & Playback Analysis

The 900 Series Recording and Playback functionality has the ability to record data at up to 216k samples/second for review, export, post processing, or driving a shaker.

Recording can be done simultaneously with real-time measurement or control and the recording sample rate can be independent of the measurement sample rate. Recorded data can be analyzed with any analysis type.
Structural & Modal Analysis

Structural & Modal Analysis

SignalCalc 900 Provides a Complete Modal Data Acquisition Solution for Small or Large Structural Tests.

In a modal study, a common transfer function measurement is the Frequency Response Function (FRF). FRF measurements are used extensively in the modal analysis of mechanical systems. The frequency response function is a complex value and includes both a real and imaginary component that can be resolved into magnitude and phase.
Rotating Machinery Analysis

Rotating Machinery Analysis

Analyze Vibrations Caused by Rotating Machinery by Triggering or Normalizing Data Based on the Rotating Speed of the Machine.

RPM Analysis provides measurements synchronized to the speed of a rotating shaft. A high speed tach channel reads the RPM from the tachometer signal, and it can be used to trigger measurements or to pace waterfall displays.
SRS Analysis

SRS Analysis

Streamlined Transient Capture and SRS Analysis in SignalCalc 900.

Shock Response Synthesis analyzes the damaging ability of a transient pulse by estimating its effect on resonances. SignalCalc 900 uses a trigger to capture transient pulses − and a single transient capture may be reanalyzed multiple times live during the test using different damping factors, octave spacing, or octave placement.
Sine Data Reduction

Sine Data Reduction

Monitor Hundreds or Thousands of Channels in a Sine Vibration Control Test and Configure Abort Channel Profiles to Trigger the Controller to Abort.

SignalCalc Sine Data Reduction is used during a swept sine test under the direction of a vibration controller, providing additional measurement channels to supplement the controller. Sine Data Reduction also serves as a critical safety system for protection of high value test articles like satellites, triggering the controller to stop within milliseconds of a pre-defined tolerance being exceeded.

The powerful analysis functions and easily customizable graphical user interface features facilitate data analysis and comparison with analytical models, enabling test engineers to make critical decisions when testing high value test articles.
Time History Recording Editor

Time History Recording Editor

Modify Time Histories Graphically with the Time Recording Editor.

Time History Recording Editor is a graphical tool which allows modification of time-domain data files. Source time histories can come from the 900 Series software, or can be imported from an external source. The resulting edited time data file can be analyzed in 900 Series software, output through an output channel to drive a shaker, used in a time replication shaker test or exported for external use.

Recording editor allows you to concatenate events that were recorded hours apart, events from different channels or recordings, or events from imported recordings into a single new recording. Recordings can also be trimmed, scaled, filtered, resampled, and can have ramps added at appropriate places.
The resulting time history can be post-processed using 900 Series software, used to drive a shaker, or exported.
Acoustic Analysis

Acoustic Analysis

Acoustic Measurements are used to Quantify Noise or Sound Power Emitted from a Product.

Acoustic measurements go hand in hand with vibration measurements − and in many cases the the goal of vibration reduction is rooted in the need for a reduction in acoustic noise.
 Air-Cooled Electrodynamic Shakers

Air-Cooled Electrodynamic Shakers

A Broad Range of Air Cooled Electrodynamic Shaker Systems for Vibration Testing.

Electrodynamic shaker systems are essential for vibration testing, and you can find them in many configurations to suit your needs. Air-cooled electrodynamic shakers offer greater versatility, lower costs, and simpler installation than water-cooled shakers, making them an ideal investment for your testing applications.

Our air-cooled shakers are suitable for random, shock, sine, transient mixed mode, and long-time history replication applications. High-displacement models are ideal for classical shock testing and transportation testing. High lateral and torsional stiffness ensure maximum stability and support.

All SignalForce vibration test systems, or vibration shaker systems, including high quality accessories such as head expanders and slip tables, are manufactured in the USA or the UK by Data Physics.
Water Cooled Shakers

Water Cooled Shakers

Water Cooled Shakers Are Typically Used for Larger Payloads and More Demanding Structural Testing Applications.

By utilizing dual hydrostatic bearings, payloads with high overturning moments can be tested without the need for external guidance systems. Water cooled shaker systems generate comparably lower acoustic noise output and lower demand on facility HVAC systems. Water cooled shaker bodies are completely sealed, making them ideal for both clean room and hazardous environments.
Modal Shakers

Modal Shakers

Modal Shakers Are Used to Excite a Structure Via the Central Spigot with a Connecting Rod (Stinger), So That Energy Can Be Input Without the Mass or Dynamics of the Shaker Affecting the Response of the Structure
Inertial Shakers

Inertial Shakers

When Large Structures Need to Be Tested, Inertial Shakers Provide the Ideal Solution.

These shakers have found applications for testing buildings, floor loading resonances, ship’s decks for helicopter loading, squeaks and rattle testing in cars, geological exploration, helicopter rotor simulation and active vibration cancellation. The central spigot is attached to the structure under test and the body then provides the inertial mass.

Inertial shakers are permanent magnet devices which may be sealed for short test operations in harsh environments. For prolonged use it is necessary to cool the shakers and this can be achieved either by the attachment of a standard shop dry air line or by the attachment of a small cooling blower to suck the air through the shaker.

All power amplifiers used with inertial shakers may be fitted with an internal sine signal source to provide simple excitation for the shaker. Externally generated signals may also be applied to the power amplifier.
SignalForce Amplifiers

SignalForce Amplifiers

SignalForce Accessories

SignalForce Accessories

A Complete Range of Accessories and Design Services for Slip Tables, Fixtures, Head Expanders, Monobases, and More.

When designing head expanders or fixtures 3D Models are produced using the complete moving system to ensure that all resonances that might be excited are investigated. At least 20 mode types are usually considered. Head expanders are available as round or square shapes, made from cast magnesium or aluminum or as weldments, depending on the required size, operating frequency and budget.

Slip tables can be supplied in monobases or in stand-alone structures for mating with any existing shaker. The slip table assembly consists of a steel moat structure, a magnesium slip plate, a precision ground granite block and (usually) a set of guidance bearings. The steel moat acts as an oil reservoir, where oil flows from the slip plate and guidance assembly. The granite slip surface is enclosed within this structure and is ground and lapped to a tool room grade B finish to provide minimum friction during vibration testing. Data Physics Corporation manufactures a variety of head expanders, fixtures, and slip tables.

Sine Vibration Control

Sine Vibration Control

Sine Vibration Control is Used to Qualify a Test Article or to Excite its Resonances to Test Durability.

Swept Sine testing is the primary tool for characterizing the dynamics of a test article. Sine testing delivers sinusoidal excitation to the article under test, controlling the excitation level through a pre-defined frequency range.
Random Vibration Control

Random Vibration Control

Random Vibration is representative of the broad range of vibration environments that products and structures experience during their lifetimes.

Random vibrations excite all of a structure’s resonant frequencies simultaneously, often simulating the environment the structure will see when it is in the field. Short or long duration random vibration tests are used to ensure a product or structure will be able to withstand the vibrations it will experience during its lifetime.
Classical Shock Control

Classical Shock Control

Classical shock testing on a shaker is an efficient method to test products against high-acceleration transients, offering better accuracy and more repeatability than a drop shock machine.

Classical Shock offers a wide range of classical pulse types, including half sine, rectangular, triangular (symmetrical or non-symmetrical), sawtooth (initial or terminal peak), trapezoid, double sine, haversine, sineburst, and user-imported pulses.
Mixed Mode Vibration Control

Mixed Mode Vibration Control

Sine-on-Random and Random-on-Random Vibration Test Types.

Mixed mode testing is used to simulate the vibration environment of structures where there is a combination of broadband and cyclic (narrowband) energy. Cyclic energy can be in the form of sweeping sine tones or narrowband random. For example, simulating helicopter vibration incorporates random vibration due to turbulence and sine vibration due to the rotor shaft and drivetrain.
Resonance Search & Dwell Vibration Control

Resonance Search & Dwell Vibration Control

Resonance Dwell is a convenient, repeatable way to stress a test article for low- or high- cycle fatigue testing.

Cyclic stress testing using Resonance Search and Dwell is the most effective way to assess the fatigue life of a test article. Resonance Dwell uses the test article’s modeshapes to impart stress at the same locations and in the same directions that the test article would experience during its lifetime.
SRS Shock Control

SRS Shock Control

SRS Shock Control is used to Simulate the Complex Vibration Environment Seen in Earthquakes and Pyrotechnic Shock.

SRS Shock Control synthesizes a time history that conforms to the given SRS reference. The SRS controller is the optimal controller choice for high frequency shock control, and has the ability to make independent SRS or Frequency domain measurements while the SRS controller is running − with SRS parameters independent of the controller SRS
