Tea Tree oil is a natural antiseptic. The aborigines of New South Wales, Australia discovered Tea Tree Oil after they held the waters of Bungawalbin Creek with a bit of magical reverence. The name meant something like ‘healing ground’, and they believed the water held some sort of magical power. The leaves of the Tea Tree would fall into the water and decompose on the ground, and the tribes would use the mud and the waters to treat various ailments.
When Captain James Cook travelled through the coastal regions of New South Wales he and his crew noticed massive groves of trees, thick with sticky aromatic leaves. The local natives told him about the healing power of these trees and how they had, for many years, used the crushed leaves to treat cuts and wounds. Crushed leaves were applied directly to an injury and then held in place with a mud pack to create a poultice that helped fight infection in the wound.
During World War 2, an outbreak of foot-fungus became so bad that it hospitalised hundreds of Australian soldiers. None of the ‘modern’ ointments worked to stop this fungus. A medic, who was an aborigine from Australia, remembered about the Tea Tree and got some of the Oil. The doctors coated the soldiers feet with the oil and the fungus was killed within a few days!
The majority of people have lost touch with nature’s remedies……..Tea Tree oil is the perfect solution to many skin care needs.
