Sourcing Sintered Components Globally

Powder Metallurgy uses various processes to make sintered components. Conventional Powder Metallurgy process involves four steps:

Powder blending enables a uniform mixture, provides the appropriate material properties and ensures minimum friction during compaction.
Powder compaction permits a wide range of design flexibility in the radial aspect.
Sintering bonds the powder particles through diffusion, improving a component's mechanical properties.
Sizing and Coining (sometimes referred to as calibration) increases both precision and density and reduces the Powder Metallurgy part's roughness.

Castings

Sinotech are able to supply castings from a variety of processes including Investment casting (Lost Wax /Lost Foam), Silica Sol casting and Sand Casting.

Investment Casting

This process allows the manufacture typically of small components, up to around 35Kg in weight to a very high degree of accuracy, 0.5% of length.

Die Casting

Gravity Die Casting employs cast iron moulds which allow aluminium & zinc castings to be produced more accurately and cheaply than with sand castings. Tooling costs of gravity die casting are a fraction of those needed for high pressure die castings. The rapid chilling gives excellent mechanical properties whilst non-turbulent filling ensures production of heat treatable gravity castings with minimal porosity.

Sinotech are able to work with customers at the design stage, where we can bring into play, our extensive knowledge and experience of metal forming & tool design.
Prototype components can be produced to help the decision process arrive at the optimised final tooling design.

Cold Formed Parts

Cold forming is a high speed manufacturing process whereby metal is shaped at room temperature often without the need for the removal of material. A simple blank is placed within a die and a punch is pressed into the blank. The blank then takes on the form of the punch and the die. By utilising multiple dies and punches in succession very complex shapes can be achieved. Metal is forced beyond its yield (elastic) limit and retains its altered shape upon removal from the die. The metal is not forced beyond its tensile strength, otherwise fracturing would occur (the exception is when trimming or piercing). Historically cold forming has been an experienced based technology, but this is changing as new computer based analytical tools are constantly being developed.

Push Pull Cables are a type of flexible cable used to transmit mechanical force by movement of an inner cable relative to an outer cable − conduit.

What is MIM?

MIM is a manufacturing process which is able to deliver near net-shape metal components by compressing metal powder in a special sintering process.
MIM offers significant cost savings compared to the use of conventional machining or electrical discharge machining. Used especially in the medical and automotive sectors, it can offer significant savings to customers.

What is Optical Sorting

Automated Optical sorting is used to sort manufactured parts at very high speeds. This technology replaces error prone visual inspectors with a virtually fool proof software and camera driven system that can check up to a 1,000 parts per minute and record all dimensions and surface defects and push parts into GO and NOGO bins.
