Australian Owned Self Storage Company Protects itself from Economic Downturn with New Product
22 August 2008
Australian owned Gliderol Garage Doors first arrived in the UK in 1988. Since then it has grown to employ 89 staff from the region with an annual turnover in excess of £6.5m.
Gliderol Garage have made a very considerable investment in the construction and final commissioning for a new sectional overhead door panel machine, the only machine of its type in the UK to service our local market. Gliderol also now manufacture an automatic insulated roller door to complement its range of garage doors. This diversification, they say, will help them survive the current downturn in the UK construction industry. “We are looking into opening an office in the south,” said Mr O’Loughlin, “for sales and distribution purposes, and we are also looking to further expand our market share in Europe, initially in France which has a buoyant market at the current time, and then further afield.” But the new boss is keen to stress that these plans will not distract them from their key markets in the UK and Ireland nor will it take them away from their base in the UK which will remain in County Durham.
The company aims to increase its market share even further since appointing Australian Peter O’Loughlin as their new Managing Director. Gliderol Garage has diversified in recent years to introduce several new products including a self storage company, manufacturing components to complete full self storage facilities through innovative product design.
