Garage Door Specialist Aims to Double 6.9m Profit
29 August 2008
Gliderol Garage Doors are confident that profits will be going from strength to strength despite the current economic climate.
After the introduction of new machinery and technology, as well as appointing new Managing Director, Peter O’Loughlin, Gliderol Garage Doors has set itself the challenge of doubling turnover within the next five years
Australian owned Gliderol Garage Doors arrived in the UK in 1988 as a relatively small company but has since expanded to 89 staff with an annual turnover in excess of £6.5m. They hope to double this figure however over the next five years with the help of Peter O’Loughlin, their new, Australian born, Managing Director.
One of their defining moves towards achieving this has been to make a very considerable investment in the construction and final commissioning of a new sectional overhead door panel machine- the only machine of its type in the UK for their market. In addition to this, Gliderol is also manufacturing an automatic insulated roller door to complement their garage door range. Peter O’Loughlin believes this will help protect the company from the downturn in the construction industry and also hopes to expand the company by positioning new distribution plants in the South of the UK and beyond
‘We are also looking to further expand our market share in Europe, initially in France which has a buoyant market at the current time and then further afield.”
He was keen to stress however that these plans will not distract them from their key markets in the UK and Ireland nor will it take them away from their base in the UK which will remain in County Durham.
