Thermal & "paperless" recorders are adaptable from 6-36 channels
28 May 2007
The new 8440 and DAS1400 series recorders from Metrix Electronics feature high performance data acquisition with maximum flexibility for a wide range of applications.
The user can configure or upgrade a unit to have from 6 to 36 analogue signal channels, plus 16 logic inputs. This has the advantage that one recorder can be more cost effective, as it can be reconfigured easily for different development, production or service applications.
The DAS1400 series are ‘paperless’ data acquisition systems, while the 8400 series have a built-in printer which can output data in graphical waveform or tabular formats onto 270mm wide thermal paper. Two types of input module specifications are available. Up to three modules can be installed giving a choice of nine ‘mix and match’ combinations.
One module offers six ‘universal’ channels to IEC 1010 CAT III, 600V safety standards. Each of these isolated channels can be selected for DC voltage (1mV to 1000V), true RMS AC (200mV to 500V), or thermocouple inputs.
The second module provides 12 multiplexed inputs for input signals up to 50V, thermocouple or PT100 temperature sensor inputs. Both series offer direct recording onto the internal 40GB hard disk, with a bandwidth of up to 100kHz per channel.
A 12-inch colour screen displays the multi-channel waveforms during acquisition, or when viewing from memory, and is also used to set up the desired configurations for the instrument. Ethernet, USB and RS-232 interfaces are provided for data transfer to a network, external storage media or a PC for archiving and further analysis.
Basic data transfer and viewing software is supplied. More sophisticated data analysis and report software and rack mounting kits are available as options.
