Roof Terrace Playground puts City Kids on top of the World

Leading synthetic surfacing supplier Notts Sport is solving the problem of play provision in urban environments with its versatile ChildsPlay system.
One of the company’s latest installations was recently completed at the Falbo e la Neve nursery school in the city of Conseza in southern Italy.
The 600m² area on top of the nursery building is a fusion of colour and appealing physical and mental activities for pre-school children, including a tricycle track complete with ‘tunnel’, giant noughts and crosses, and chunky wooden slides, swings and climbing frames. The VHAF NottsSward carpet has been designed in a base colour of grass green, with vibrant red, yellow and blue shapes to pick out different areas of activity.
The installation was carried out through Notts Sport’s Italian distributor TLF, which in addition to being an approved supplier of Notts Sport’s ChildsPlay systems, specialises in crafted wooden play equipment and street furniture. It is the first ChildsPlay project TLF has carried out in Calabria, and was commissioned by the private sector nursery through the company’s local agent based in the region.
Shaun Patrick, Chief Executive of Notts Sport says: “The agent was approached by the nursery, which was looking for a way to turn the outdoor space it has into a play area for city children aged three to five years.
“ChildsPlay was immediately recommended, and once the customer saw the range of 15 colours available, they changed their mind about simply ‘turfing’ the area in a grass green sward. Instead TLF designed a lively scheme for them to complement their superb play equipment.
“The result is absolutely ideal for an urban environment. It’s vibrant, safe and a great use of space, and its rooftop position means it is accessible only to those allowed through the nursery doors.”
