Furnitubes sponsors Progardens at RHS Malvern Spring Festival
28 April 2016
Contemporary design for older urban spaces’ That was the brief that garden designers Progardens set for themselves when they approached their show garden for the Malvern Spring Festival 2016. Furnitubes is delighted to be able to provide the contemporary seating they wanted to complement their design.
The Malvern Spring FestivalThe Malvern Spring Festival is a highlight of the gardening year. It’s one of the first big shows of the season and attracts many visitors who flock to see the wonderful show gardens, all set off against the backdrop of the Malvern Hills, an area of outstanding natural beauty.
The High Line, Manhattan
Pro Gardens have been working with SAige Longlife Decking Ltd to deliver a stunning show garden, and are excited to be exhibiting at the Malvern Show. Their exhibit is inspired by the creative and much-admired designs of Piet Oudolf in New York. Oudolf was commissioned to design a garden for the High Line in Manhattan. The High Line is an unusual urban garden on an abandoned elevated railway built during the industrial revolution in the middle of New York. It is inherently urban in nature, but Oudolf’s inspired design shows that nature and urban landscapes can be a wonderful and uplifting juxtaposition. Unlike other urban parks, where the emphasis is often on green spaces, the High Line Park is all about plants, and the plants that he chose to fill his urban space were selected to evoke an English Meadow in Manhattan.
Pro Gardens Design
The Pro Gardens planting scheme emphasises movement with drifts of grasses punctuated with splashes of vibrant colour. It sounds beautiful, and we can’t wait to see it, and we’re very proud that our RailRoad range is the contemporary seating they have chosen to complement this modern design for Urban Spaces. To use their own words the garden is aimed at ‘Urban and Contemporary spaces, and conjures up the feeling of open space, movement and tranquillity....A piece of intense natural beauty with the sprawling metropolis of reality.’
The RailRoad range
The RailRoad range, from Furnitubes, is the latest addition to the SmartSpace Collection. Designed by our own in-house team, it is the ultimate in elegant, modern seating design. Inspired by model train tracks, RailRoad is based on a simple series of interchangeable straight and curved modules, designed to be joined to create seamless runs of continuous seating. This inherent flexibility provides an almost endless variety of configuration possibilities, from straight lines to wave forms, circles and other geometrical patterns.
Thanks to its highly adaptable nature, the RailRoad range can be customised to suit all environments from parks to streets to housing developments. As the ultimate in modular street furniture, this new range of outdoor seats and benches can also provide smaller scale independent seating units. And just like model railways, you can use as many or as few modules as required to suit your scheme. With three styles of support and timber profile combinations and an extensive choice of backrests, armrests and other options, the opportunities are limitless.
Best in Show?
The Pro Gardens Show Garden will feature a RailRoad bench, which will be positioned against the back drop of a fibreglass wall, and amongst the flowing grasses. It will be the perfect place to rest a while amongst the tranquillity of the planting, and soothed by the movement and sound of the freestanding water feature that is the focal point of the design.
We would like to wish Pro Gardens well at the Malvern Show. We were delighted to provide sponsorship for this stunning garden because the exhibit complements our own ethos of combining traditional skills and high standards, with a contemporary and innovative approach to design.
Please contact us if you would like to know more about the RailRoad seats, benches and planters, or any of our other ranges. Our team love to talk to garden designers and landscape architects at an early stage in their planning, and are on hand to advise on the most appropriate ranges and items to complete your schemes.
