CopriSystems on the ball with sports structures
22 July 2016
For many young people, sport is a way to enjoy time with friends while keeping fit and healthy at the same time.
Whatever influences children and young people to get active, the unreliable British weather is enough to change their mind and choose entertainment requiring less exercise. However, CopriSystems has a solution for keeping the young ones active all year round.CopriSystems sports structures are ideal to be used as school sports halls, keeping out the wind and rain for use any time of year. The translucent roof of the structures brings in an abundance of natural light, keeping schools sustainable. Lighting can be fitted to the correct lux level to suit the sport and with the latest LED technology!
Trinity School, Dagenham
Trinity School in Dagenham is a Special Educational Needs School for Cognition and Learning. As a centre of excellence for the education of pupils with severe learning difficulties and autism, the school had a need for a bespoke multi-use sports facility for pupils to take part in sports activities without having to travel off school grounds.
A dome was installed by CopriSystems, with a double skin for extra insulation and an entire white cover to induce natural light. Inside, the dome incorporated polyurethane (PU) flooring suitable for a huge variety of sports activities. Rebound boards, electrical heating and energy efficient lighting were also installed inside the dome, as well as a long jump pit and running track outside the dome on school grounds.
Although multi-use sports facilities are a popular option for schools, CopriSystems also have an excellent track record for installing structures for specific sporting needs. Indoor tennis courts and badminton halls are popular uses, as they can accommodate any type of tennis court construction, including clay, carpet, grass and hard courts.
Culford School, Bury St Edmunds
Culford School, a coeducational independent day and boarding school for pupils age 3-18, is based four miles north of Bury St Edmunds in Suffolk. Set in 480 acres of stunning parkland, the school wanted to make better use of their space with four indoor tennis courts.
Installed by CopriSystems, the four tennis domes came with lighting and acrylic flooring. Culford School is now well on their way to achieving their ambition of being at the forefront of sporting provision in the local community and the East of England, with the Tennis Centre being recognised with the LTA Clubmark award for its programme.
CopriSystems sport structures have also been used for basketball courts, netball courts, indoor cricket pitches, football domes, hockey pitches and even swimming pools.
The Change Foundation
Although CopriSystems carries out lots of work for schools, its customer base extends to charities too. The Change Foundation, based in Wallington near Croydon, engages with marginalised and at-risk young people, facing their challenges through sport and dance. The charity seeks to provide young people with opportunities to lead their own programmes one day and make a lasting difference.
CopriSystems installed a cricket dome for the charity, including additional storage at each end plus access ramps, lighting, cricket nets for two lanes, carpet playing surface, groundworks and much more. As well as a space to play cricket, The Cricket Centre now provides a unique space and an ideal venue for community events, business meetings, private parties and weddings.
Finding a sports structure that fits the bill in terms of space, use and specific requirements might seem like a challenge, but CopriSystems can tailor solutions to meet a wide variety of needs. Whether it be a fixed dome, or a telescopic system to make the most of the summer sunshine – there’s something for every requirement.
Prefabricated sports structures can also be installed with minimal disturbance, and as well as this, a turnkey service can also be provided that includes groundwork, landscaping, installation of sports surfaces and fitting-out the pavilions with lighting, goals, nets, posts and other equipment.
