This Buckinghamshire salon upgraded from Salon Manager to i-salon in 2007, and hasn’t looked back since.
As an active member of Three•Six•Five, an educational group for salon owners keen to boost their commercial acumen, Jon Hall, founder of The Cutting Studio in Hazlemere, has long been aware of the benefits new technology can bring to his business.
It’s a decade since Jon first switched from traditional pen and paper appointment books to Integrity Software’s Salon Manager product, becoming one of the first salons in the UK to catch on to computers. A keen convert to everything the electronic system had to offer, Jon decided to upgrade to the newer i-salon product two years ago, having been made aware of its state-of-the-art software through his Three•Six•Five membership.
“The features which convinced me to upgrade at first were an easy drag and drop function for rescheduling appointments, and a new option which allows me to monitor how well individual stylists perform in terms of appointments and retail sales,” he says.
Since having i-salon installed, Jon has found it invaluable for several essential aspects of his business, including managing appointments, and maintaining accurate, regularly updated client records.
“It’s so much easier to get comprehensive reports on everything from how much clients spend to the frequency of their visits,” he explains. “Being able to track new clients and see if they become regulars is another brilliant new function, and through i-salon we can also record where new client recommendations have come from and reward existing customers who have mentioned us to their friends. We’ve been offering half-price cut and blow-dries in return for recommending the salon, and it’s proved to be a great incentive, generating valuable new business and new clients.”
The detailed information available through i-salon has become a vital business tool for Jon and his 18-strong team. “The pin-pointed reports I can access via i-salon help me run my business more effectively,” Jon says. “I enjoy spending time getting details on everything from stock control to customer loyalty and can use the program to spot potential problems in an instant where previously I might have missed them.
“I can now achieve more in a day, as i-salon not only saves me time and money but also helps me generate more revenue by working out how we can improve the business,” Jon sums up.
