The 70,000 square foot building in W1 houses sales, marketing, distribution and software development departments. Designed by MoreySmith, the eight-storey refurbishment has teapoints on the upper floors and an atrium café on the ground floor. It also includes a mixture of cellular offices, meeting spaces and open plan areas – as well as an impressive reception area and formal conference rooms. The GEC Anderson worktops were fitted as part of a wider fit-out contract by bespoke joinery specialists Cheesman Interiors, for main contractor Faithdean plc.

For the teapoints, MoreySmith specified GEC Anderson stainless steel worktops, ranging from 2,880mm to 3,500mm in length and 740mm to 800mm in width. All have 35mm front edges with 100mm upstands at sides and rear and integral 500 x 400mm sinks,

200mm deep. Holes are provided for taps, drinking water taps and plumbing for surface-mounted coffee makers. The worktops are in satin finish stainless steel, which is easily maintained to high standards of hygiene and appearance, even with heavy use.
GEC Anderson Managing Director Martin Tye says the installation once again demonstrates that stainless steel is an extremely versatile material for the designer. “It is an excellent choice in contemporary contexts as well as the more traditional,” he says. “Its aesthetic appeal is complemented by practical benefits, proven over many years.”

Over the past 16 years, Cheesman Interiors has provided and installed bespoke joinery and other functional or decorative elements for numerous prestige developments in the UK and Europe. Based in Aylesford, Kent, the company employs more than 70 people.
Contracts Manager Martin Cheesman says the company had worked with GEC Anderson prior to the tightly scheduled London project. “Dealing with them again has been good. Their service and support has been excellent and I look forward to using them again.”
