Joint introduction for monitoring software

Rittal and Microsoft introduce first commercial integrated software for monitoring IT infrastructure and servers.
Rittal, a proficient leader in energy efficient IT infrastructures, together with software giant manufacturer Microsoft have together joined in a collaboration which aims to significantly optimise energy consumption within the data centre. RiZone –Rittal’s new IT management software along with Microsoft’s System Centre Operations Manager (SCOM) – represents the first commercial software, which extends beyond the infrastructure components and allows the power consumption monitoring of all devices.
By creating a management pack to facilitate the sharing of data between IT infrastructure and servers, the software monitors and controls the cooling from chillers, computer room air-conditioning (CRAC) systems, liquid cooling packages, free cooling, as well as energy consumption from uninterrupted power supplies (UPS), power distribution and other physical parameters such as temperature, access and security. The Microsoft System Centre Operations Managers monitors the performance of the server and provides an event display and evaluation allowing server load and climate control to now be co-ordinated flexibly with each other. RiZone can manage redundant configurations up to Tier IV and is also able to communicate with third party products via SNMP or BACnet.
RiZone was exhibited for the first time at CeBIT 2009 where German Chancellor Dr. Angela Merkel praised Rittal’s innovative strengths in energy saving technologies. Arnold Schwarzenegger, Governor of CeBIT Partner State California was also impressed and proceeded to invite the Rittal Management team to Sacramento for further energy saving discussions.
