MANUAL LIFTING & HANDLING TRAINING COURSE The aim of the course: • To understand the safety of workers when carrying out manual handling tasks •To state the main aims of the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974 and associated regulations • To create a safe system of work • To understand the need for accident prevention and control Agenda • Introduction - Why the need for training? • European and United Kingdom legislations • Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 • Manual Handling Operations 1992 • Basic facts and body mechanics • Methods of lifting • Planning for work • Assessment paper Course duration – 4 hours.
