Builders Cleans: Understanding the Process
28 January 2020
Across January we have focused heavily on builders cleans throughout our marketing efforts.
At Clean360 we feel it’s important for building owners to not only understand the process but the benefits also. In today’s article we cover both of these factors.A Builders Clean Defined
If you’ve previously encountered any form of construction work you’re likely familiar with the amount of dust and debris left behind. Unfortunately this is a hazard of the job and whilst many trades will clean up after themselves, this usually consists of a basic once over. Differing dramatically from a domestic clean a builders clean covers each and every corner, every wall, every floor and the entirety of any fixtures and fittings. A specific clean like this should always be conducted once trades have left for maximum results.
Consider the end of a brand new house build. The project has come to an end and it’s almost ready to welcome eager viewers. The house can of course be shown in its current state but surely it’s going to make a much better first impression without a single speck of dust?
Useful Checklist
The following information gives you an idea of what a builders clean entails:
- Packaging and any remaining debris is removed. A clear space makes cleaning a straightforward process.
- Beginning with the entryway and working through the passage any remnants of dust and paint workers have left behind is fully removed. Cleaning technicians will discard any door coverings and labels before thoroughly cleaning both sides of the doors and door frames.
- Light fittings are dusted and polished if applicable.
- Once inside the kitchen, all cupboards are tackled both inside and out. Once any dust layers have been removed they are wiped down using cleaning solutions and dried. Not a corner is missed before moving onto kitchen appliances, hoods, splash backs and floors.
- Plumbing fixtures throughout the new build go through the exact same process as number four with the addition of polish where necessary.
- Fireplaces, hearths and surrounds are dusted and cleaned.
- Taps undergo exactly the same process as number five.
- All internal windows are freed from dust and cleaned until they are gleaming and streak free. Mirrors are included.
- Walls, skirting boards, light switches and even smoke alarms undergo rigorous cleaning. Remember, any splashes are first removed before dusting commences.
- The staircase, spindles and handrails go through a similar process.
- Once every area has been cleaned floor areas are hoovered including the stairs.
- Stone floors are mopped and dried.
A clean, debris and dust free house ready and waiting to be someone’s forever home. When carried out timely and correctly, a builders clean saves money.
