Cranage EMC and Safety, updates to our UKAS accreditation.
30 April 2021
Cranage EMC and Safety is a UKAS accredited laboratory and UK Conformity Assessment Body, testing and certifying electrical and electronic products for EMC, product safety and environmental performance.
Our UKAS accreditation (number 1833) is recognition of our continual technical competence, impartiality and reliability. We continually strive to add to our comprehensive UKAS scope and are pleased to confirm we are now UKAS accredited for IEC/EN 60335-2-30 and IEC/EN 60335-2-43.These particular requirements for household and electrical appliances standards are for room heaters, and clothes dryers and towel rails respectively. These updates are already driving business from the EU, as manufacturers look for UKAS accreditations as confirmation of technical competency, as well as helping to demonstrate due diligence. As electric towel rails are often located in a humid bathroom, they have to undergo rigorous testing to ensure they are safe for the end user and compliant with legislation.
These standards give detailed instructions on the test procedure, the maintenance and configuration of the environment and the textiles that must be used. Even the air flow, temperature and humidity of the test laboratory must be controlled. Products must be tested under normal and abnormal operating conditions, meaning testing takes several days.
Cranage EMC and Safety are audited annually to ensure we are maintaining our high standards and therefore remain UKAS accredited.
Manufacturers choose to use a UKAS accredited laboratory to:
-assure the efficiency and validity of processes
