Environ win internet sales court case
South African skincare brand Environ has won its legal case in the High Court against a web-based organisation which has been retailing its products online without permission.
FirstForSkincare, which runs websites in the UK, USA, Australia and Europe advertising Environ products for sale, has been ordered to pay costs and to no longer sell or import Environ products in the UK or face being in contempt of court and risking severe penalties.UK and Ireland distributor for the South African brand, David Alpert of Environ Skincare commented; “Environ is a professional only product. This court action underlines Environs'' commitment to supporting their worldwide distributor and salon network and sales only by authorised, qualified professionals.”
The legal statement notifying the results of the formal action noted that the principals at Environ “consider the infringement of our rights in an extremely serious light and we will not hesitate to take the appropriate action to protect our interests and those of our clients.”
