The soaring energy costs, rising interest rates and price increases are creating intense pressure on glass manufacturers, making an extremely turbulent market for the rest of 2022 well into 2023.
The rising energy costs are causing mass panic everywhere, which are due to surpass the levels seen this year by 2023. By 2023 most fixed rates are expected to expire, putting the industry under further stress as the rates will surge. These costs will be passed from the manufacturer onto their customers, seeing prices rise by 25% - 30%.
These price increases are not the only issues the industry faces over the next year. Major glass manufacturers are supporting European branches due to the conflict in Eastern Europe. Placing more strain on availability and reviving the shortage issue seen post the Covid-19 pandemic. The only solution some manufacturers can see is by returning to putting customers on tight allocations.
