On site spraying of metal soffit and columns to Amazon fulfilment centre

Amazon were constructing a new fulfilment centre in Germany and needed a contractor to spray coat 35,000m2 of metal soffits to the mezzanine floors.
Alongside the soffits, 1500 columns needed spray painting in different colours reflecting the different zones throughout the fulfilment centre.As Amazon’s fulfilment centres operate all day long with multiple shifts taking place, there is no downtime in the use of the space.
This meant that it was imperative that the coatings used were long lasting and that the finish was of the highest possible quality in order to minimise future maintenance requirements.
Sprayzone were awarded the contract to spray paint both the mezzanine soffits and the columns and sources a high quality water based coating with a 10 years manufacturer’s warranty. The coating was manufactured in Belgium and delivered directly to Sprayzone’s team on site.
This project commenced in August 2020 which meant that there were additional challenges as the works were completed during the Covid pandemic. For example, there were months when the team were allowed to drive through France but were not permitted to stop for any reason.
Sprayzone’s advanced planning ensured that this did not cause any problems with detailed mileage and fuel requirements worked out alongside travel routes and accommodation locations. Keeping up to date with frequently changing rules and regulations was an added challenge for the logistics team.
