Cistermiser is awarded Kiwa UK Regulation 4 certification for its Easyflush EVO toilet flushing valve
07 July 2023
Cistermiser, a leading manufacturer of water and energy saving solutions for commercial and public sector washrooms, has been accredited with Kiwa UK Regulation 4 for its Easyflush EVO toilet flushing valve.
The multi award-winning, sensor-activated Easyflush EVO has been specifically engineered to eradicate water leakage from dual flush toilets. It is estimated that every day, approximately 400 million litres of clean, fresh water leaks from UK toilets, mostly dual flush types.Dual flush toilets manufactured with traditional drop valves are prone to leaking because the seal, situated below the cistern’s water line, can degrade due to the presence of limescale and debris in the water.
Easyflush EVO does not have a flush seal below the water line, preventing leaks. Kiwa’s UK Regulation 4 Product Approval Scheme (KUKreg4) is a robust method for demonstrating compliance with the Water Supply (Water Fittings) Regulations 1999 in England and Wales, the Water Supply (Water Fittings) Byelaws 2014 in Scotland, and the Water Supply (Water Fittings Regulations) 2009 in Northern Ireland.
In order to obtain KUKreg4 certification, products undergo rigorous testing in a Kiwa ISO 17025 accredited laboratory. The KUKreg4 certification applies to all three variations of Easyflush EVO: the 1.5” and 2” flush valves and the complete flushing cistern kit, which includes an Easyflush EVO flushing valve, a fill valve, and a concealed cistern with a 1.5” flush pipe outlet and flush cone.
David Meacock, Cistermiser’s technical director, said: “All products connected to the UK water supply must comply with the Water Supply (Water Fitting) Regulations 1999 or the equivalent regulations in Scotland and Northern Ireland. Manufacturers have various routes available to demonstrate that their products comply.
We believe independent evaluation by a professional and well-regarded testing, inspection and certification company is essential; it demonstrates our products meet the appropriate quality standards and provides reassurance to customers.
Kiwa has robust testing procedures in place and importantly, the KUKreg4 database makes it easy for architects, specifiers, facilities managers and plumbing installers to source compliant products.
“Easyflush EVO’s unique patented design means no other solution on the market can address water wastage from leaking toilets in the same way. Gaining KUKreg4 certification is another accolade for Easyflush EVO, which has already won multiple industry awards and is being installed in some prestigious projects across the UK. It is testament to its high quality, as well as its water and energy saving capabilities.
” Each Easyflush EVO can save up to 146,000 litres of water per year. Installing just 25 Easyflush EVO flushing valves could also offset over 1.5 tonnes of carbon annually, as reducing water consumption helps to lower the water industry’s operational carbon emissions.
