OCS and Strand ‘Scoop’ Golden Service Awards

07 December 2009

OCS and Strand claimed 4 of the 16 Golden Service Awards, including the Overall Winner Award, at this years Golden Service Awards presentation, often described as the `Oscars of the Cleaning Industry’.

Representatives proudly received awards on behalf of the company and their teams for Best Cleaned Premises Retail Outlet – OCS at Gunwharf Quays in Portsmouth, the Johnson Diversey Environmental Awareness Award – Strand at Hinxton Hall Ltd in Cambridge and Overall Winner awarded to Gunwharf Quays.  Marek Makowski picked up the BCC Site Supervisor of the Year Award for his work at Erl Wood Manor, Eli Lilly & Co Ltd.

Over 500 guests were present at the glittering awards ceremony at the Lancaster Hotel in London - a clear indication of the respect and recognition the Awards have earned in the industry since their introduction in 1991. Open to all segments of the cleaning and support services industry, 137 entries were received from across the UK and Ireland.  The awards’ judging was carried out by an independent panel including representatives from Cleaning & Maintenance Magazine, The Cleaning and Support Services Association, The British Cleaning Council and the British Institute of Cleaning Science.  Innovation, staff management, training and service quality and client relationships were among the main assessment criteria.

Paul Pearce, Judge Chair for the Golden Service Awards 2009 said;

"It quickly became clear who the 16 winners were. As judges, innovation, staff management, training and client relationship were among the main criteria which we assessed. Each of the winners of the 15 categories and the overall winners' site received top marks across the board for clearly providing the gold standard in all of these criteria."
