Handrails Kee to Children In Need
17 March 2010
Kee Safety recently supplied their Kee Access® range of products for a new handrail system at a run down London community centre for Children In Need.
Teaming up with the dragons from the BBCs' Dragons Den series, Kee Safety volunteered its services and products to help renovate the community centre which helps keep kids off the street.The BBC’s annual Children In Need appeal raises millions of pounds for children’s charities, with the help of well known names and faces. Last year, Deborah Meaden, Duncan Bannatyne, Peter Jones, James Caan and Theo Paphitis from Dragons Den were enlisted to use their entrepreneurial skills, contacts as well as tradesmen and volunteers from the local community to complete a tough challenge – to transform Middle Park Community Centre into an appealing and inviting centre for the kids of the area, all in just 72 hours.
Kee Safety offered its support by donating design and installation expertise as well as products from its Kee Access® range to create a brand new white handrail leading up to the entrance. Kee Safety ensured that this system met all the requirements of building regulations as well as the Disability Discrimination Act (DDA).
Kee Safety Ltd Project Engineer, Martin Bunn;
“We were thrilled to be involved in such a good cause. The Kee Access system was perfect for the project. It’s quick and easy to install, provides a safe handrailing solution which meets the relevant regulations, and looks great when it’s up. We’re sure the new and improved centre will be used for many years to come.”
The Kee Access® range can allow both speedy and seamless retrofitting, as well as hassle-free and simple installation. The range is designed to give a smooth handrail with size 7 tube (outside diameter 42.4mm) and is therefore compatible with the DDA recommendations. It incorporates a total of seventeen new fittings and is supplied with versatility, ease and speed of installation in mind. Ideal for use in creating new structures, the series can also be used as a retrofit solution, because it includes an “Add-on” offset fitting to allow a new handrail to be added onto an existing structure of appropriate size.
