Oracle Storage Systems completes contract to store 1.2 million health records for Portsmouth NHS Trust

Criteria included limited floor space, secure access to documents and heavily loaded shelving, all of which dictated the type of installation to be fitted. Oracle’s Profile adjustable steel shelving systems, provided the necessary strong structure and high capacity and was, therefore used throughout.

Oracle Storage Systems were given the contract based on our design & cost, which not only created the storage of the required 1.2 million health records, it also gave the NHS extra capacity for future expansion.

Existing mobile shelving, although others said it couldn’t be done were re used. Oracle Storage laid new tracks for the mobile systems onto the newly supplied floor and then the existing mobile shelving systems were dismantled re installed onto the newly lad tracks. This then saved the NHS £ 75,000

Oracle Storage Systems based in Newbury Berkshire, also designed, supplied & installed 2 mezzanine floors (to create new office & storage space) with static shelving and conveyors, so that the staff had easy handling of the records to the 1st floors.

The project was successfully completed by a team of 10 Oracle storage specialists with the majority of the project being carried out to minimise staff disruption.

This project was a real test of logistics planning as the relocation from 3 separate hospital locations to the new location needed to be completed within a tight time scale which included a holiday shutdown.
