Spot on with POCON

Two into one does go when it comes to innovative terminal blocks from Weidmuller.

The new POCON test-disconnect terminal switches from current transformer to voltage transformer by means of a simple recoding operation. Designed to ensure that the connected current transformers are automatically short-circuited when no connector is inserted, POCON eliminates the risk of destruction of the transformer. Pluggable connectors contact the downstream circuit, and remove the short-circuit for current transformer applications. In addition, a pluggable test connector equipped with freely configurable jumpers ensures efficient, safe and non-destructive testing of the transformers. The unit fits into the wall of the electrical cabinet, so users do not have to open the electrical cabinet; a cut-out in the wall of the electrical cabinet is sufficient to lever in the current and voltage transformer terminal. Fitting into a wide variety of wall panel thicknesses, this results in the terminal being securely mounted within a few seconds. Originally designed for the energy market, this unique module fulfils the requirements of widely different applications with just a few components. The POCON product line includes the terminal blocks (with 4 or 8 poles), a mounting attachment, a connection for a monitoring circuit, the coding element, and the pluggable test and standard connectors. The POCON modular system also includes two- and three-pole bridges that can be used for assigning circuits on the test adapter and for easy looping into the transformer circuit. However, Weidmüller also makes application-specific modifications on request, such as changing the number of poles. With safety in mind, a test plug can be freely programmed by means of cross-connections. There is a variable test plug with sockets and the option of connecting cable lugs. Meeting protection class IP20, there are also loops for anti-tamper seal.
