Nine out of 10 owners prefer it

Nine out of 10 Shortcuts clients say their salon software is an invaluable tool for business, according to a survey carried out by the company recently.
Nearly 150 salon owners responded to the questionnaire, with 89.7 per cent rating Shortcuts as a key factor in their success. Three out of four owners gave a similar response when asked if they would recommend Shortcuts to a colleague.Stuart Endean, owner of Ministry of Hair in Colchester, highlighted the comprehensive benefits Shortcuts offers including the reduction in no-shows, increased re-bookings, increased client retention and better business analysis.
“Without shortcuts my business would only be half as successful as it is,” added Stuart.
Another satisfied owner, Bob Price of Creations in Newark, said: “We find all aspects of the system very beneficial to the smooth running of the salon. It has made day to day tasks so much easier freeing up my time to concentrate on growing the business. The reports and marketing are great and we use them frequently for advertising and promoting.”
Other reasons given for recommending Shortcuts to other owners included:
“They are great, would not be without it.”
Angels, Aberdeen
“It’s a great asset to my company, allowing us to grow and keep one step ahead of the competition.”
Glitz Hair Design, Loughborough
“I can’t imagine running a salon without it, so would say it’s an invaluable tool.”
Fusion 45, Wakefield
“It’s like another member of staff.”
Hair Kutz, Southend-on-Sea
“Bullletproof.” Guild Hairdressing, Cheltenham
The survey was organised to find out what clients really thought of their software and what made them choose Shortcuts. Value to business garnered one of the highest scores, with owners also highlighting ease of use and the extensive support service, which unlike many providers is available 24 hours a day 7 days a week and is a must for any modern salon where late night and weekend opening are standard.
Many companies cannot offer this service as they only have 1 support location that is open during office hours. Shortcuts is unique in the UK as they have 3 offices in English speaking countries globally so when the UK closes calls are automatically redirected at no extra cost to the caller to America and then, when they finish, to Australia.
Shortcuts has been helping salon owners run their businesses for over 17 years and every year the software is developed with new ways to help increase revenue and efficiency in any modern salon, whatever the size. Upgrades and support are very good and whenever we use the helpline we get friendly helpful advice delivered by industry people rather than computer geeks.
“The staff love it, especially the younger ones as they are so savvy with technology. The training has always been good and delivered in a very professional manner.”
Level 13, Poulton-le-Fylde
Eighty-six per cent rated ease of use as a priority. According to South Lanarkshire College, Shortcuts is easy to use and train students on, while Penny Hensler of Images in Milton Keynes, said: “It is so easy to use, even for older staff who have very little IT experience.”
Maggie Burton of H4 Hair and Beauty, Newport, elaborated: “It’s easy for everybody to use, from trainees to the owner, from writing clients notes, to marketing and banking. While booking in a client is much quicker than having to write it in the book and we never have to search for a pencil or sharpener.”
But for some, all aspects of Shortcuts got top marks. Michael Blake, owner of Blakes, The Art of Hair in High Peak, Derbyshire, is one of Shortcuts’ longest-standing clients. He loves Shortcuts because it is fast and accurate. “I knew this system was a winner the day we installed it,” says Michael.
