A touch of Wasabi for FlexiDry

17 August 2010

Due to its extremely fast drying time FlexiDry F0 was the ideal choice for the new Wasabi sushi and bento restaurant in Hammersmith.

FlexiDry F0 allows final floor finishes to be laid just 3 days after installation making it ideal for all shop and restaurant refits/refurbishments. The 2,296 sq ft restaurant in Hammersmith's Broadway Shopping Centre, currently being refurbished ready for opening, will be Wasabi’s first restaurant in Hammersmith, after success at their 11 other restaurants in central and east London with their branch at the O2 Arena offering a double-decker conveyor belt design eating experience. Wasabi provides a choice of a wide variety of traditional Japanese freshly prepared sushi, hot steamed dim sum, tempura and Japanese noodle & rice dishes served with a range of imported Japanese beers, traditional Japanese sake or chuhai fresh fruit juice cocktails. ‘Wasabi’ is similar to horseradish and a small amount of it is grated into the soy sauce into which the sliced raw fish is dipped. With the restaurant located on the Hammersmith Island/Roundabout in West London, it provided the screeding contractor with some logistical challenges to get materials on site. With FlexiDry being a low dosage, high concentrated liquid additive, it is easily transported and so was just able to be carried by hand on to the site by the screed technician. FlexiDry is simply added to a cementitious screed mix on site and transforms screed drying times with a choice of 3, 7, 14 or 21 days. In addition to reduced drying times, FlexiDry benefits include the ability to accept foot traffic after 12 hours of laying; improved compressive strength; and a reduced carbon footprint.
