Durable offers free help on Regulation 14

07 February 2011

People responsible for buildings and the safety of people inside them cannot be expected to know what glass is installed,

let alone, whether glazing meets the requirements of Regulation 14 of the Workplace (Health Safety & Welfare) 1992 Regulations, according to public sector supplier Durable Limited.

As a background to the importance of glass safety The Building Research Establishment released figures showing that 58,000 hospital treated accidents and ten fatalities involving fixed glass happened in a single year.

To help those who would like to know more about glass and glazing safety, Durable has provided three ways of gaining vital knowledge. Firstly they are making available for free, copies of their comprehensive guide to Regulation 14 and glazing. Not only does this guide explain what the regulations are, it explains how to establish risk, how to recognise and understand glass, and straight-forward ways towards compliance.

Secondly they are offering a free space at one of their informative seminars in the Spring. Lastly Durable will carry out a free initial survey of a building to establish the likelihood of non-compliance which can also be useful as a training / education exercise.
