08 February 2011
Renz have announced their planned line ups for this year's Hunkeler Innovation Days in Lucern, from 14th – 17th February 2011; New AP 360 Block to Block, Mobi 500 and P 500
This year at ‘Hunkeler Innovation days’ the New Renz AP 360 - 120 Block to Block will be the main highlight from Renz. The machine is a fully modular high speed automatic book block punch system for working widths of up to 360 mm. The machine is an evolution form the leading AP 360 high speed punch to meet and match the pace of the front end digital printers. This brand new concept from Renz, aims to fill the gap between high speed punching systems and fully automated lines. The machine has evolved to meet the demands of the digital and offset market, the continued growth in punching and wire binding book stocks means major bottle necks, hence the AP 360 – 120 block to block was born.
The AP 360 Block to Block’s unique concept of taking pre collated book blocks feeding them onto a delivery one by one which is dropped into the feeding belts. These sheets are then picked and belt driven into the punching die. All dies come complete with integrated QSA technology (Quick Size Adjustment), allowing for format changes in under 1 minute with die institute. Whilst pre-programmed format setups can be reloaded via touch screen thus avoiding difficult and long setup times. They are then brought out of the die and are rotated around a drum into an optional nail hole or round corner punch, one this action is performed. The sheets are re-collated into book blocks. When ejected the book blocks are crossed stacked onto a deep pile pallet delivery system in the same sequence ready for binding production whether it is offline, near-line or online. A transfer station can connect to a fully automatic Renz ABL 500 or INLINE 500 binding line series for non-stop high speed production.
Additional extras for the AP 360 – 120 block to block are double punching station for punching on both sides e.g. wire comb binding on one side nail hole on the opposite side or station for round cornering, tear-off perforation of the corners, inlet station for feeding pre-punched front or back covers and a counting unit.
Also to be exhibited will be the Renz P 500 heavy duty punch machine and the MOBI 500 semi automatic wire binder.
The P 500 is aimed at the printer, print finisher, professional bindery, inplant, copy shop and bind on demand market. The machine boasts a 500 mm working width for calendar production whilst also being able to convert into a 360 mm book punch with a 4 mm punching throat (40 sheets, 80gsm one hit) with the simple die changeover. All dies come complete with QSA (quick size adjustment), allowing for format changes in under 1 minute with die institute.
The Renz MOBI 500 semi automatic wire closing machine binds wire sizes from ¼ - 1 ¼ inch. This machines has a very quick make ready. The machine addresses the digital book and calendar market. Touch screen make ready giving very fast set up times and binding outputs from 100 to 5000 books comfortably.
