Norbar donates £5,000 to Rugby club
17 February 2011
Gosford All-Blacks Rugby Football Club has received a boost for its Girls Rugby Team from Banbury based Norbar Torque Tools. The company provided the donation, to sponsor requirements for the Girls and Ladies teams over a 2-year period, with a presentation cheque handed to the Club at its Stratfield Brake ground in Kidlington, Oxford by Norbars' Managing Director Neill Brodey.
The RFU, Rugby Unions' governing body in England, claims that womens' rugby is going from strength to strength, with more girls than ever before coming into the game and awards becoming increasingly frequent. Girls Rugby at Gosford All-Blacks is having considerable success, with four girls representing the County of Oxfordshire and one, Olivia Jones, selected for the South West of England Divisional Team.Neill Brodey is a keen rugby supporter and believes that GABRFC has made a great contribution to the sport and the local community in the Oxford area;
“The Gosford All-Blacks have made great strides in promoting interest in rugby in schools and we are particularly delighted to help the Club to develop its active and enthusiastic Girls and Ladies Section. Rugby can become a lifetime passion for players at all levels, as well as providing tremendous pride and pleasure for their families and friends.”
Founded in 1956, GABRFC is in its 54th season and is continually proactive in pursuing its vision to be the “first choice for Oxford community rugby”. It has an enthusiastic membership covering all age groups as well as both genders. Innovations include the recent introduction of Touch Rugby, and several of Gosford’s Touch players are involved in the sport at international level.
GABRFC Director, Andy Baulch;
“We really appreciate the commitment that Norbar has shown in supporting our Girls Rugby section. Their sponsorship will be used specifically for Girls and Ladies rugby, including the acquisition of playing kit, coaching development and local schools outreach. It will be a tremendous benefit to our programmes for this growing area of Gosford All-Black activities.”
