Stannah solve disabled access in Oxley Sports Centre

20 February 2008

When Sherborne Girls extended their indoor sports facilities the School ensured that disabled people would be able to use the facilities too by including a Stannah platform lift.

Oxley Sports Centre, extended in 2007, is a dual-use facility. The Centre is an essential part of the School but also welcomes all members of the public and other local schools to use the facilities seven days a week. Facilities now include a fitness suite, 25m swimming pool, dance studio, badminton and squash courts, outside floodlit astro turf and a wealth of fitness classes to suit everyone.

The Stannah Midilift SL takes wheelchair users up to a range of first floor facilities designed especially for disabled people. It nestles beside the general access stairway and compliments the welcoming interior design of the Centre. The 2-stop platform lift moves within a glass-clad shaft providing ample room for a wheelchair user to enter and exit the lift with ease. It features easy-to-use constant pressure push buttons, a non-slip floor and feature lighting to ensure it is simple and easy for every passenger.

Sherborne Girls is one of the top independent schools in the UK offering an excellent all round education for girls aged eleven to eighteen from all over the world.

The Stannah Midilift SL is designed and manufactured by Stannah in the UK and is part of a full range of platform lifts supplied by Stannah. Outstanding after sales service is supplied via a network of eleven Stannah branches nationwide.
