Hydrogen

Reliable pressure measurement for the hydrogen industry, from production and storage of pure hydrogen to the use in mobility and power generation.

The key component of Trafag’s pressure transmitters are pressure sensors based on thin-film-on-steel technology (fully welded design without O-ring). The sensor technology comes from Trafag’s own production and was developed inhouse together with the tailored ASIC (application-specific microchip) for the sensor signal processing. As a result, pressure sensor and electronics work in perfect partnership and achieve a unique level of long-term stability and reliability, even under the most adverse environmental conditions.

To comply with the hydrogen specific requirements for pressure measurement, such as embrittlement and permeation, Trafag qualified a special steel alloy for pressure sensors in contact with hydrogen. This specific steel alloy, a nitrogen-strenghened austenitic steel, is both hydrogen-compatible and features also all the material properties which are necessary to build robust, accurate and long-term stable pressure sensors.

Pressure Transmitters

Trafag pressure transmitters are used for electronically measuring and evaluating pressure. Over the decades they have proven themselves in a multitude of demanding applications in harsh environments.

Electromechanical Pressure Switches

Trafag’s electromechanical pressure switches provide high vibration resistance and switch point precision in combination with an extremely robust and durable design.

Thermostats

For 70 years, Trafag thermostats have proven their robustness in the most adverse environmental conditions.

Electronic Pressure Switches

The robust electronic pressure switches from Trafag monitor the pressure behavior of liquid and gaseous media, e.g. in plant construction and mechanical engineering, hydraulic systems, process engineering, rail vehicles, shipbuilding or in water treatment.

Gas Density Monitors & Gas Density Sensors

Trafag stands for precise, reliable and maintenance-free instruments developed for the monitoring of SF6 and other gases in the field of high- and medium-voltage switchgear. Trafag gas monitoring devices measure the gas density directly, i.e. SF6 Gas Density Monitors, with the unique gas density reference principle or the patented quartz tuning fork technology, i.e. SF6 Gas Density Sensors, or by combining both principles, i.e. SF6 Hybrid Gas Density Monitors. They thus offer the most reliable solution on the market by directly measuring the SF6 gas density. Trafag guarantees outstanding accuracy and operation in the widest temperature range on the market.

Trafag offers a wide range of original accessories which are ideally matched to our products. They include devices for monitoring or configuring transmitters such as hand pumps with precision pressure gauge or the Sensor Communicator, a handheld device which provides direct access to the calibration values of the transmitter in the Trafag ASIC. Trafag also offers a wide range of accessories which can be adapted to meet specific application requirements and also make installation easier. They include diagnostic valve manifolds, snubbers and pressure peak damping elements for measuring pressure or protective pipes for thermostats.
