A range of new purchase orders and progression of project builds, has kept PPM busy during July.
Severn Trent Water has progressed two separate purchase orders for Proam analysers intended for final effluent, continuous ammonia measurement. Replacement instruments for ammonia and turbidity have also been supplied to Wessex Water. The bespoke build of a battery powered, portable logging system has also been completed and delivered to Wessex Water. The instrumentation for Affinity Water comprising optical probe technology from TriOS for dissolved organics, suspended solids and colour measurement has also been pre-configured ready for delivery. Having already shipped two Proams for a petrochemical application, our Taiwanese distributor placed a further order for two additional Proam ammonia monitors, intended for a new Semiconductor plant in Taiwan.
Severn Trent Water final effluent Proam installations
The Proam ammonia monitor is extensively installed throughout Severn Trent Water for final effluent ammonia measurement. The instrument provides continuous analysis of treated effluent quality before it is discharged to the local water course. The latest instruments were ranged 0-20mg/L as N and programmed to calibrate daily against two known calibration standards, to self-validate measurement performance and maintain repeatability.
One of the instruments was configured to operate at 5rpm to conserve reagents and allow for monthly site attendance. The ability to extend the maintenance interval especially at remote sites or at un-manned treatment works, has proved popular with a number of the Utilities. Additionally, the cost of ownership is minimised by reducing the reagent consumption and the number of planned maintenance visits, so this is also an added benefit.
Another two Proam analysers supplied to TSMC semiconductor plant in Taiwan
Atlas Technology of Taiwan has placed an order for two Proam ammonia analysers for their client, Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company, a long-time end user of PPM’s instruments. The analysers are to be used to monitor the waste water coming from the new Fab 18 plant which is the fourth 12-inch GigaFab wafer manufacturing plant in Tainan City.
From a recent TSMC news bulletin: “Opened by Chairman Dr. Morris Chang, the new Fab demonstrates TSMC’s ongoing commitment to investing in Taiwan as well as to environmental sustainability, and marks another milestone in TSMC’s 30-year history and its competitive advantage in technology leadership, manufacturing excellence, and customer trust. TSMC will continue applying its high standards of green fab design to Fab 18, with comprehensive measures for energy saving, water conservation, pollution prevention and waste reduction.
The design includes an ecological green space, which both preserves habitats of native species and provides a pleasant environment. ”TSMC has recently overtaken Samsung to become the world's largest chip company by market capitalization.
