Retrofit sterility for refurbished Hitchin Hospital
11 September 2009
Extensive refurbishment work addressing two theatre suites at a Hertfordshire hospital have featured the use of the Tretoplast system manufactured by Tremco illbruck; specified to ensure continued sterility in this critical environment.
The specialist contract at the Pinehill Hospital, Hitchin, has been carried out by Goss Environmental, a regular installer of Tretoplast WB elastomeric coatings. In addition to the excellent hygiene characteristics of the system, Goss Environmental also advocates the use of Tretoplast WB because the water based formulation enables it to be applied in close confines and adjacent to other occupied areas without disruption or inconvenience. The product is extremely durable, cleanable, anti-microbial and truly elastomeric. At the Pinehill Hospital, one of a number of private hospitals operated in the UK by Australian based Ramsay Health, a total area of 440 square metres of previously coated areas were over-coated with the Tretoplast in the two operating theatres, together with the associated anaesthetic, scrub and general prep rooms.
A spokesperson for Ramsay Health, Estates Manager, Ron Brightwell, statesed; “We engaged Goss Environmental because of their speciality in medical and clean room coatings. Although there was a different system previously employed in the theatres, Goss recommended the Tretoplast WB. We would always use a water based product and Tretoplast WB is not only washable but it is flexible and resilient.”
Managing Director for the installer, George Goss comments: “We specialise in the supply and application of high performance coating systems, particularly where requirements are exacting and top class execution on site are demanded.
