Klippon STB enclosure series relaunched
30 October 2009
Weidmüller has relaunched its Klippon STB series of stainless steel enclosures for deployment in standard and hazardous industrial applications.
For decades customers all over the world have been placing their trust in Weidmüller enclosures including the Klippon STB series, which Weidmüller has relaunched with a new addition and in a new design. The Klippon STB family (Small Terminal Box) is a synonym for outstanding competence, quality and complete solutions. They are predestined for standard industrial applications just as well as applications in harsh environments, such as those in the processing and transport industries. Weidmüller revisited its Klippon STB series making technical improvements in line with the new standards relating to hazard area equipment (IEC / EN 60079, ATEX) and DIN 62208 covering empty enclosures as well as the increased demands of industrial companies operating in a global environment.
Fabricated from stainless-steel type 1.4404 / 316L (mirror-polished stainless-steel surface) the Klippon STB series is available in eight different sizes ( 120 mm x 120 mm x 80 mm through to 250 mm x 400 mm x 130 mm) and ingress protection rating IP 66/67 (industrial standard) and IP 66 (ATEX). The enclosures are designed for temperatures ranging from -50° C to +120° C.
They are essentially corrosion-resistant and suitable for deployment in environments exposed to salt air. The enclosures are supplied with highly temperature-resistant silicon gaskets with compression protection as standard. Klippon STB series enclosures are impact resistant (7J ATEX vs. 10 J standard) and are fitted with earthing studs (M6) welded inside and out to meet earthing requirements.
An earthing stud is also integrated in the completely removable lid as a standard feature. The ex-works welded mounting feet are tested to ensure they are shock and vibration proof. The Klippon STB series is further enhanced with an extensive programme of accessories, which among other articles includes cable entries/blanking plugs/ sealing washers/ lock nuts and breather plugs.
Weidmüller supplies the enclosure ready for installation. Customer-specific solutions are available on request. International approvals such as GOST, UL and CSA are being prepared.
