Weidmüllers' FrontCom® Micro – practical service interface for Ethernet and USB applications. – Uncomplicated access to devices installed in the electrical cabinet
By adding the new service interface FrontCom® Micro Weidmüller is enhancing the FrontCom® family with a further practical product. A compact design, IP65 ingress protection, a wealth of Ethernet and USB inserts in addition to STEADYTEC™ technology all ensure that the FrontCom® Micro is a secure and versatile service interface that facilitates simple access to the inner workings of the electrical cabinet. Generally speaking, standardized interface ports such as RJ45 and USB are utilized to access the controls or PC in order to programme and set parameters of an installation. These devices are installed on the inside of the electrical cabinet. Consequently, users have to open the cabinet door to undertake service tasks. An opened cabinet door, however, also opens the door to risks. The components are open to damaging environmental factors and unauthorized access. Weidmüller turned its attention to this problem and developed a stunningly simple and practical solution in the form of its FrontCom® Micro. FrontCom® Micro simply enables simple access to the devices on the inside of the electrical cabinet. It avoids having to open the door of the electrical cabinet and all the risks that that entails.
With FrontCom® Micro carrying out service work at the electrical cabinet is simple, fast and secure. The name 'Micro' points immediately to one of the more significant advantages the product offers: The FrontCom® Micro is extremely compact by design and simple to mount onto electrical cabinet panels, distribution boxes and control consoles through a standard 22-mm drilled hole. It is simple to fit utilizing the central screw connection. Once fitted the front panel interface functions as a clever service interface with guaranteed protection.
The panel feed-through solution is rated to IP65, ensuring it securely protects the integrated coupling against the ingression of dust and jets of water. This rating ensures ingress protection from water that may be hosed against the housing from any direction. In developing the FrontCom® Micro Weidmüller aimed for a practical solution based on standardized components. Users are able to effortlessly gain access to the controls or PC via standardized interfaces such as Ethernet (RJ45) and USB. Programming and parameterization work can be undertaken quickly and efficiently.
To guarantee a flexible field solution the front panel interface is available in a variety of versions. Customers have the freedom to choose between an RJ45 coupling, RJ45 module (TIA-A, TIA-B, PROFINET) and a USB-A coupling. Inserts equipped with STEADY TEC™ technology guarantee a reliable connection as well as secure data transfers - at speeds up to 10 Gigabit Ethernet. And the other products in the FrontCom® family ensure effortless access to the electrical cabinet.
Thanks to a variety of adapter solutions they are suitable for each of the different types of interfaces, ensuring they can be utilized in a multitude of applications. With its wealth of front panel interfaces Weidmüller is ensuring that communication through the closed door of the electrical cabinet no longer poses a problem. Utilizing FrontCom® products ensures that all customary interfaces can be accessed from outside the cabinet – effortlessly.
