“It is our aim to deliver inspirational and exceptional service to everybody,” explains Mark Chisholm, Project Surveyor at the university.“TORMAX™ automatic doors offered thAiming to become a role model for client-focused facilities management among education establishments worldwide, Royal Holloway, University of London, contracted TORMAX™ to manufacture and install over twenty automatic entrances to new buildings, as well as to retro-fit existing doors with appropriate automatic operators. Utilising cutting-edge iMotion® technology from TORMAX™ the new automated doors not only simplify access for all students and teachers but also represent a sustainable solution. As well as being manufactured almost entirely using recyclable materials, iMotion® technology combines a high torque synchronous motor with sophisticated sensors and a ground-breaking control system that minimises energy consumption whilst cutting heat lost from the building by precisely matching door opening speed with pedestrian flow. Actively encouraging less-able bodied students.
Royal Holloway has gone beyond the requirements of current DDA legislation, giving students a remote controlled key ring with which to operate the doors, rather than requiring them to e range of options we demanded at realistic prices and with good local back-up for servicing and support”. In addition to providing automatic door access to key teaching buildings around the campus, the Student Union now welcomes all members thanks to a pair of TORMAX iMotion® 1301 operators automating the main swing doors at the entrance. Delivering precise functionality through simple keypad programming.
iMotion® 1301 swing door operators can be utilised in a wide range of internal or external locations, even those with high foot traffic levels. Tested well beyond industry requirements and with all components being RoHS compliant, TORMAX™ operators offer long-term reliability coupled with exceptional safety features including multiple infra-red sensors to guarantee object recognition. In the event of power failure, swing doors can simply be manually pushed open for rapid evacuation. A new generation of door operators, iMotion® technology is currently available on all TORMAX™ sliding and swing door operators and will be rolled out across revolving and folding door systems over the next 12 months.
