TORMAX iMOTION® SLIDING DOOR DRIVE WINS INDUSTRY AWARD
15 July 2010
The ground-breaking, iMotion® 2301 sliding door operator from TORMAX has been selected by a jury of world-class experts to receive a red dot award, for an outstanding design achievement in the Architecture and Interior Design class.
The ability of the iMotion® to adapt its functionality to almost any location impressed the judges as did the ultra-modern technology embedded in a clear, compact design.Incorporating cutting-edge technology, the synchronous motor that powers an iMotion® 2301 sliding door drive has no brushes or gears that can wear out, giving near-indefinite life expectancy, as well as incredibly quiet day-to-day operation.
Pushing the boundaries of intelligent functionality the control system automatically configures itself during operation, for example in response to temperature changes, effectively lowering energy consumption for both door operation and in maintaining the ambient internal temperature of a building. Maximising efficiencies further, the latest IT technology allows all iMotion® operated doors in a building to be linked into a network for centralised control.
The red dot award is the largest and most prestigious design competition in the world with 57 nations entering over 4,250 products to be considered for the Product Design Award 2010. “Products which receive an award stand out from the crowd by virtue of their outstanding design and innovative approach. They are therefore able to demonstrate their quality in one of the most demanding design competitions in the world”, explained the design expert Dr Peter Zec, initiator of the red dot design award.
With its Head Office in Switzerland, TORMAX is a worldwide organisation leading the market in door automation. iMotion® technology is currently available for both sliding and swing door automation with iMotion® folding and revolving door operators soon to be rolled out. “This tangible recognition of quality from an independent body reflects our philosophy of designing door systems that are safe, long-lasting and user-friendly as well as being aesthetically capable of blending seamlessly with today’s modern architecture,” comments Rolf Huber, Head of Sales & Marketing for TORMAX Switzerland.
The official presentation of the awards will take place in July in front of over 1,000 guests at the Opera House in Essen, the 2010 European City of Culture. The TORMAX iMotion® 2301 sliding door drive will take its place alongside other winners in a four week special exhibition at the red dot design museum.
