Floor Screed for luxury green home-‘ The Bluff’, Chinnoror
03 November 2011
The Bluff- the new luxury green home taking shape on the Chiltern Hills, Oxfordshire is a perfect blend of luxury and sustainability. Adding to its sustainable features, Flexidry F3 floor screed provided the high quality, sustainable screed ideal for the project. The ultra-contemporary, high- tech villa yet sustainable country home is renowned builders Mivan Prime’s first residential project in the UK.
The £3.1m villa taking shape in the hillside of Chiltern Hills, Oxfordshire bears testimonial to the fact that ‘green’ is not all about frugality.Combining quality with sustainability, FlexiDry fast drying floor screed proved to be the perfect screed choice for The Bluff- the ultra-contemporary, high-tech, sustainably constructed private residence designed by renowned Italian architects Lazzarini Pickering.
The Bluff differs from ordinary green home projects in that it combines contemporary luxury and aesthetics seamlessly with energy efficiency and sustainability. The 5200 sq.ft, 5-bedroom home features several sustainable and energy efficient features ranging from the utilization of natural ventilation, low-energy lighting, bio-mass boilers, solar panels and rain water harvesting to the incorporation of planted grass roofs, glass facades with sun screens.
As a further step in improving the energy efficiency of the heating system, the floors were especially screeded with high quality FlexiDry floor screeds, which serve as an energy saving complement for underfloor heating. FlexiDry F3 with a drying time of 21 days was used for the project. Unlike normal screeds which usually generate large amounts of wastage and landfill, FlexiDry floor screeds keep wastage to the minimum, as the screed can be mixed as per requirement right at the worksite.
Moreover, any small amount of wastage that is generated can be recycled completely for further use, without adding to the landfill. The Bluff is bespoke residential builders - Mivan Prime’s first venture in the UK. The home has been specially designed to blend into the picturesque back drop of the beech forests of Chiltern Hills, while providing spectacular views of the rugged countryside.
The project is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2011.
