New RIBA Approved CPD’s from Tarkett

Tarkett, the worldwide leader in flooring and sports surface solutions, has just launched 2 new RIBA approved seminars to assist specifiers in the development of their knowledge and understanding of the flooring industry.
Social housing, private housing student accommodation, retirement homes and communal areas all have different flooring needs – how do you choose the correct specification for the flooring. “Homes & Living Space – a guide to hard and smooth flooring specification” has been developed by Tarkett to address issues raised by specifiers working in the Housing segment. This detailed presentation covers the different criteria for specification including concerns relating to refurbishment, underfloor heating, slip resistance, acoustic properties, durability and maintenance. It also discusses the question of the varied advantages of tiles and sheet flooring. The different types of flooring products are explained, together with guidance as to where they should be used and an indication of the life cycle cost benefits of each type.
Slips and trips are one of the biggest sources of accidents in the workplace and home. The correct specification of floorcoverings can contribute to its reduction. Tarkett’s CPD “Slips, Trips and Falls – considerations for flooring specification” discusses these issues. The presentation includes a guide to the HSE guidelines in relation to flooring specification and explains the different flooring safety slip tests and their relevance.
The importance and benefits of entrance matting is discussed, together with a guide to the correct specification. The seminar concludes with guidance on when and where slip resistant floorcoverings should be installed.
