Custom Plastic Extrusion

Tatra Rotalac has hundreds of clients for whom we manufacture plastic extrusions, for applications across a wide range of industries and sectors. From design through tooling and sampling to full production runs, we offer a service that is second to none.
Whether you want flexible or rigid tubes or profiles, we can extrude or co-extrude a wide range of materials and colours, from the simple to the more complex. Our extrusion lines can handle rigid and flexible plastic rods from 1mm diameter and plastic tubes in a range of shapes from 2mm to 160mm in diameter, with many combinations of wall thicknesses and in a variety of materials. Plastic profiles can be extruded in sizes up to 320mm in width and 100mm in depth and in virtually any thermoplastic material of your choice.

Design & Manufacturing

With over 80 years’ experience in the plastics industry, we’re keen to help with the design of your product and if you involve us in the early stages of development, we can provide valuable advice about how to refine your ideas, reduce product and tooling costs and get the high quality end product you want.
We can work from e-mail drawings in many formats including solidworks, proE, .DXF and .DWG files, or from samples of existing products.
At our modern 40,000 sq ft factory in Manchester, we have the ability to produce a wide range of plastic products to suit most applications

Injection Moulding

With more than 80 years’ experience in injection moulding, we can help turn your product ideas into reality.
Our injection moulding machines and presses range from 30 to 350 tonnes locking pressure. We mould in ABS, EVA, HDPE, LDPE, Polycarbonate, PC/ABS, Polypropylene, Polystyrene, PVC, Nylon and a huge range of engineering plastics.
We also offer a wide range of in-cycle and post-production finishing, assembly and packing services.

Plastic Extrusion

Our plastic extrusion machines are fully supported by tool room and ancillary finishing equipment including inkjet printing, punching and cutting. We have the flexibility to produce long and short runs in a range of thermoplastic materials including rigid and flexible PVC, ABS, HDPE, Polypropylene, Styrene, Acrylic and Polycarbonate.
We can also design and manufacture plastic tubing and pipe profiles to meet your specific requirements.
New plastic extrusion profiles are continually being added to our range.

Plastic Extrusion Tooling

The design, production, handling and maintenance of tools are fundamental to the extrusion and injection moulding processes and the quality of plastic products produced.
The tool room at Tatra Rotalac is run by extremely experienced and highly skilled toolmakers. They work with the latest machines and CAD CAM software to produce precision tooling for a superior finished product.

Rapid Prototyping

Rapid prototyping and 3D printing offers huge potential for plastics manufacturing. Its process capabilities enable new designs to be tested, developed and exhibited in days and weeks rather than months and years.
We offer a full complement of rapid prototyping technologies including:
Rapid Prototyping Stereo lithography (SLA)
Rapid Prototyping Selective Laser Sintering (SLS)
Rapid Prototyping CNC machining
Rapid Prototyping Low volume aluminium tooling.

Secondary Finishing

At Tatra Rotalac we offer a range of in-line, out of line and secondary finishing processes.
From in-line printing and hot-laminating foil finishes to drilling, cutting or punching, we can provide cost-effective processes to deliver your products (whether shutters, plastics extrusions or plastic moulded products) for their final application or next stage of processing.

Box Handles

Tatra Rotalac have a number of moulds for injection moulded plastic box handles. The handles can be used on a wide variety of cardboard boxes and can be used alone or be combined with a reinforcing plate to provide extra strength is required.
Our injection moulded handles offer a high carrying comfort through its profiled middle section and handles can be moulded in a range of rigid or flexible and colours to suit your application. Handles can also be moulded with your company or product logo.

Cable Fillers & Separators

We supply a number of cable manufacturers with a wide variety of cable fillers and cable separators, including cross fillers, H fillers, filler cords and mono fillers.
Cable fillers and separators can be extruded from a variety of materials including HDPE, LDPE, PVC, and PP in any colour and diameters ranging from 1mm upwards. Cable fillers and cable separators can be coiled onto reels in lengths to your requirements.

Core Liners

Tatra Rotalac manufacture and stock core liners for the geotechnical, ground exploration and drilling industries. Tatra Rotalac’s ClearView™ mini-rig core liners are made from uPVC, ensuring durability and light stability of the liner. We offer a range of standard core liners available from stock and can also manufacture core liner for most industry standard core barrels.

Hygienic Coving

Tatra Rotalac manufacture PVC coving for use in environments where hygiene is paramount, such as hospitals, food preparation rooms, caterers, cold rooms, cafes, bakers, clean rooms, butchers, slaughterhouses, and so on.
Our hidden-fix coving is co-extruded from PVC and has flexible edges, doing away with the need for silicone seals, and provide a hygienic seal at wall-to-ceiling and wall-to-floor transitions.

Liquid Dispenser Tubes

We manufacture flexible crimped liquid dispensing tubes to a number of global packaging companies as part of their “bag-in-a-box” packaging solutions for liquids.
These tubes can be irradiated or non-irradiated to suit your application, for example irradiated milk dispensing tubes. If required, we can also provide an assembly process of fitting the dispenser tubes to a cap.

With advanced production technology, powerful processing capacity and excellent customer service, our railway products have been widely exported across the globe, to countries such as the USA, Germany, Spain, Japan and Australia.
We are accredited under the Network Rail Link Up Qualification scheme. Every year Network Rail take a survey of their suppliers and this survey includes procurement practices ensuring the Network Rail suppliers are always of the highest standard.

Tatra Rotalac also manufactures a range of oval plastic tubes and oval tubing, which are all produced to order, in a wide range of thermoplastic materials. Round Plastic Tubing

Tatra Rotalac offers a wide range of round plastic tubing sizes, which are all produced to order, from 2mm to 160mm outside diameter, in a wide range of thermoplastic materials. If you have a requirement for round plastic tubes between these sizes, please let us have your enquiry. The information we need from you to quote accurately for your tubing requirements are:

Square Plastic Tubing Specifications

Please note − we manufacture to plastic pipes and tubing to order, we do not hold stock lengths.
Most of the products below can have any specified wall thickness between 0.6mm and 3mm, subject to confirmation and agreement on corner radii.
If you require plastic tube that is not square or rectangular, we extrude various other profiles, such as round, oval and more.

PVC Planking & Fencing

Apart from the Click & Fix range of Plastic Panels we also offer a range of rigid PVC planking profiles (multi cavity) for use in a variety of industries including cricket site screens, fencing, trailer boards, temporary stables and construction applications.
We also have a full range of PVC end caps and 85mm square posts also with caps.

Vertical Opening Shutter Systems

Tatra Rotalac offer two types of vertical tambour shutter doors: one with a mechanism for ease of operation, and one without, giving cost advantages whilst still being easy to operate.

Side Opening Shutter Systems

Tatra Rotalac offers a range of side opening tambour shutter systems which comprise the 3 elements of the slatted “curtain”, a mounted or recessed track and the combined handle and lock.
The range is available in plastic (Ecoslat™), aluminium and steel.
The Ecoslat™ side opening tambour system, made from PVC slats, has been developed by Tatra Rotalac to provide a smoother and quieter operation ideally suited for side tambours. Innovative construction ensures the Ecoslat™ shutter forms a perfectly flat rigid surface, without the zigzagging effect of multiple strand shutters. The slats are available in either a sawtooth or smooth finish.
