Partnership Rail-ing In Success

A leading galvanizing firm is celebrating success after playing its part in a project that saw the finishing touches put in place at a new shopping centre in Cumbria.
Lancashire-based Pillar Wedge, part of Wedge Group Galvanizing, has undertaken work for Chris Brammall Ltd, a specialist sculptural and architectural metalwork firm, to provide its hot-dip galvanizing treatment to four tonnes of steel used to create two bespoke signs and railings, which have been situated at the entrances of the New Squares outdoor shopping centre in Penrith.The New Squares development, which opened earlier this year, includes 21 bespoke retail units arranged along two fully-pedestrianised streets, as well as 64 apartments and 21 houses. The new Sainsbury’s supermarket has alone created 250 new full and part-time jobs.
Mark Waters, Commercial Manager of Pillar Wedge, explained: “This project was a fantastic one to work on, especially as it sees so many new shops and job opportunities available in Penrith, which will no doubt strengthen the retail economy of the town.
We galvanized both the two New Squares entrance signs, which are situated between two opposite buildings, as well as the railings which are secured along the walls.”
Sian Pittman of Chris Brammall Ltd, said: “We are really pleased with the end result of the signs and railings. We required the team at Pillar Wedge to galvanize the steel to not only protect the metalwork from corrosion and weathering, but to give it an aesthetically-pleasing finish. We work with them regularly and their truck is parked outside our premises most weeks for collection of our steel, ready to be galvanized.”
