Mediterranean Computer Services Specify the Star Micronics TSP800 from DED Limited for the Gibraltar Health Authority
Mediterranean Computer services have selected the Star Micronics TSP800 from DED Limited for the Gibraltar Health Authority to ensure quick and straightforward printing of prescriptions and other PDF files for Doctors surgeries throughout Gibraltar.Founded in 1991, Mediterranean Computer Services is a well established IT services provider offering PC repairs, support contracts, structured installations and configuration as well as consultancy and printer repairs in Gibraltar. Working with the Gibraltar Health Authority, a need for new printers to print prescriptions within Doctors surgeries was identified. These printers also needed to offer the capability to print A4 sized PDF files generated from a web based application on a PC. These files needed to be smaller than A4 when printed, but of course still legible. Print speed was also an issue as no one was prepared to compromise on this.
When Mediterranean Computer Services contacted DED Limited, it soon became apparent that the TSP800 from Star Micronics was the ideal printer for the job. Not only does it offer an impressive print speed of 150mm per second, but it also accept paper rolls of various widths up to a maximum of 112mm wide. Without any software changes, the unique scalable Raster driver on the TSP800 allows the printer scale pages down for A4 to A6 and then print them in a format which is still legible. All of these features made the TSP800 ideal for use as a prescription printer, a compact internet printer and for Doctors surgeries throughout Gibraltar.
On selecting the TSP800, Joseph Cortes, Senior EHT Officer at the Gibraltar Health Authority commented “we are happy with the speed and convenience that the TSP800 has provided us”.
The Star Micronics TSP800 is a very fast thermal barcode, label, receipt and ticket printer which prints on papers of up to 150gsm in weight. The TSP800 uses Star's simple "Drop-In & Print" paper loading feature and has an external paper feed path for large diameter and fanfold tickets as standard. Interfacing is no problem thanks to both ESC/POS. The TSP800 has a host of extra features including two colour printing, wall and desk mount brackets, interchangeable interfaces and drivers for most operating systems.
