The Star Micronics TSP700II Printer from DED enables high speed visitor passes
14 August 2009
Visitor Passes are a necessity in many offices and businesses today. After booking in with reception, temporary badges need to be produced quickly and easily so that visitors can be identified on site.
Whether it is a basic printed paper pass or a complete visitor management system including a printed pass, the Star Micronics TSP700II from DED is the ideal choice. Printing at 250mm per second, the TSP700II is one of the fastest printers available on the market today and is able to fit into a variety of visitor management solutions.Perhaps the easiest way to produce a basic visitor pass with the TSP700II is to use nothing more than a Windows based driver and the required paper stock. As demonstrated at security and facilities management exhibitions this year, the TSP700II can produce a badge with minimal fuss in double quick time. Simply design the visitor pass in Word to include Name, Date, Job Title etc and then print. Job done.
At the other end of the scale, the TSP700II can work with visitor management software DeskFive from NFive to produce not only a basic visitor badge, but then also offer a system to manage visitors whilst on site. DeskFive is a powerful, yet simple to operate visitor management system offering real time visitor tracking with check in and check out facility, automatic email notification of visitor arrival, plus relevant reports such as visitor history and emergency evacuation.
Paper stock is available in a variety of sizes and colours from DED to suit individual requirements. For visitor management applications, DED has introduced a standard roll of badges 80mm wide by 76mm high which are pre-punched with holes to facilitate the use of lanyards or clips to make the visitor badges more visible and easier to wear. Each roll contains 500 badges.
Either way, the Star Micronics TSP700II has a lot to offer when it comes to visitor management solutions. The TSP700II uses Star's simple "Drop-In & Print" paper loading feature and can accept paper rolls of 58mm, 80mm and 82.5mm wide on badges of up to 150gsm thick. An external paper feed path for large diameter and fan fold tickets is included as standard. The TSP700II has a host of extra features including two colour printing, wall and desk mount brackets, a choice of (Serial, Parallel, USB, Ethernet or WiFi) interfaces and drivers for most operating systems.
