DED Offer the Complete EPoS Hardware Solution with DEDPoS Retail
29 August 2008
The complete EPoS hardware solution for Retail is now available from DED - One simple package containing all the EPoS hardware, cables and drivers required to get a system up and running.
Consisting of 4 vital EPoS elements, DEDPoS Retail offers hardware from world class manufacturers such as Star Micronics, Metrologic and Posiflex. Supplied with a three year on site warranty and all consumables required to get you started, it really is the complete solution.
At the heart of the DEDPoS system is a Posiflex touchscreen terminal - the KS6215. This unit features a 15 inch touchscreen, 1.5GHz processor, 512MB RAM, 40GB HDD, 10/100 base T Ethernet & a host of additional ports. Windows XP Embedded Point of Service (WEPOS) is preloaded on each terminal. Housed in a stylish aluminium case with a high-gloss piano black front bezel, this unit adds a fashionable spotlight to counter tops while providing effective ventilation for quiet operation.
The printer used in the system is the TSP100GT from Star Micronics, offering superior thermal printing at speeds of 250 mm/second, that’s 45 receipts per minute. The TSP100 FuturePRNT from Star Micronics offers intuitive features such as drop-in paper loading and a guillotine paper cutter, plus the facility to re-design receipts without changing software. Crop out embedded text, images and unwanted sections on receipts and create new space for profit making messages and graphics with the unique coupon marketing tool, offering a keyword search to trigger relevant vouchers and information on customer receipts.
Automatic multiple copies, an electronic journal & font replacement/enhancement tool complete the impressive FuturePRNT driver. The TSP143GT has a USB interface and is finished in a high gloss piano black case to match the KS6215 terminal.
Also from Star Micronics is the CB2002 cash drawer with 5 note and 8 coin sections. The CB2002 features a three position key lock which can be used to open the drawer manually or secure it to prevent unauthorised access. The CB-2002 also features a media slot for posting credit card slips, cheques and vouchers without opening the drawer and an under the counter mounting option.
The Metrologic Voyager single line laser scanner offers the most advanced scanning on the market today with a scan rate of up to 72 scan lines per second and a 200mm depth of field. Featuring in-stand and out-of-stand operation, the Voyager can be used as both a hand-held and fixed projection scanner. The feature packed Voyager comes with MetroSelect® one-code programming and is capable of auto decoding most common barcode symbologies. A USB interface connects the Voyager to the DEDPoS system.
The 3 year on-site warranty gives the user peace of mind thanks to a next working day response which covers all parts and labour. Hardware will either be fixed on-site or swap-out for an exchange unit of the same or higher specification.
DED Ltd’s Sales Manager, Elliot Davis, commented “the DEDPoS Retail is the first in a series of hardware based EPoS solutions to be launched by DED and is aimed at the dealer/system integrator market. We do not sell software solutions but we do have an incredibly strong network of partners, each of whom are specialists in their own vertical markets. By offering a DEDPoS hardware package with their software, the end user will experience an unrivalled level of hardware and software support”.
