Cyclone Industries select the Posiflex JIVA 5815 from DED

01 July 2009

Touchscreen terminal for cashless catering now used in schools and colleges throughout UK.

Using the JIVA 5815 Live Register point of sale / touchscreen terminals, meal items are selected on the touch sensitive screen by the cashier / dinner lady, then the pupil authorises payment by placing their thumb on the biometric scanner. The Live Register cashless catering solution is a revolutionary new approach to managing school catering, replacing cash and cards with a system that is both secure and efficient. Using the latest in biometric fingerprint technology, Live Register eradicates the bullying associated with school children carrying money and provides added flexibility for staff, allowing them to improve students' diets and manage resources more effectively.

Commenting on the JIVA 5815 touchscreen terminal, Mark McMorran, Managing Director at Cyclone Industries said “The all in one unit looks good and has a sufficiently powerful processor to cope with the demands of our biometric EPOS software. The JIVA is well constructed and available at a price point to match our needs.” Mark goes on to say that “the unit is provided with drivers for Microsoft XP and so has been easy to integrate with our production process.”

The Jiva 5815 Pro touchscreen terminal is a low cost unit featuring an Intel Celeron 2.0 Ghz processor, 40GB HDD and a 15.1" TFT screen with 1024 x 768 SVGA resolution. The standard RAM is 512MB but this can be upgraded to 1GB. Operating system support includes WePOS, Windows XP Pro or Linux. Options include a tracks 1 and 2 magnetic stripe reader, smart card reader, i-Button reader, 2x20 line customer display, second 12.1" screen mounted on rear and a 40 key programmable keypad. The standard 2 year RTB warranty can be upgraded to a 3 year on-site warranty.
