A colourful story from DED

Rexson Select the Star Micronics TUP452 from PoS specialists DED Limited
Famous for supplying advanced ink and paint blending dispensing systems as far afield as Eastern Russia and South America, UK based Rexson have selected the Star Micronics TUP452 from DED Limited to be packaged into their Colorpoint ink and paint mixing system.
The Colorpoint system takes control of colour production processes and allows paints to be mixed quickly and efficiently. Offering highly accurate and repeatable colour whilst minimising waste and cost, the Colorpoint system is using the TUP452 as an integral part of the system to print information labels.
The Colorpoint system dispenses colour precisely to a given formula, should the colour need to be identified to operators at some point in the future, the information provided on labels printed by the TUP452 ensures that the paint can be added to the correct batch or machine. Additionally, any left overs must be easily identifiable for future use if necessary.
Martin Black, Director of Rexson commented;
“we use the Star printer as an integral part of our system to enable us to print labels at the point of dispense, to make life as easy as possible for the operator and to ensure that no containers are misidentified or lost. Our systems are often located in remote and industrial areas, so a robust and reliable solution was required. The Star TUP452 fitted our needs perfectly.”
The Star TUP452 was selected for quality and reliability, but flexibility of integration was also key when assessing printers for this project. The TUP400Z series of open frame thermal printers are specifically designed for trouble free unattended public operation. The TUP452Z has a fixed head thermal mechanism which prints on paper up to 82mm wide at up to 80mm per second.
A large paper roll can be used up to 203mm in diameter. A cutter is fitted, for standard "cut and drop" installation. The TUP492Z version has a presenter fitted which prevents paper jams and handles varying length of tickets. The TUP492Z also features a document capture system which allows the printer to retract and drop inside the kiosk any tickets which are not taken.
The MCBF is 10 million lines which when added to the other features makes the TUP400Z series the ideal choice for any unattended high use application. Windows 95/98/NT/2000/XP/Vista, Linux CUPS, JavaPOS and OPOS printer drivers are available for simple integration.
